Anyone going to use the Inteligender test?

Is anyone going to buy an inteligender test? For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a urine test you can take to guess what the gender of your baby is as early as 10 weeks. I took them with my last 2 and they were both right, it's a lucky guess and more for fun. Since we won't be finding out the gender till birth I thought it would be fun to do.

There are other things out there too like the red cabbage test and another one I can't remember what though.

Anybody plan on doing anything like this?

Honestly don't waste your money on the Intelligender. Even the comments on their website guarantee 50% or so accuracy! Why get your hopes up just to find out it's something different?! The red cabbage one is pretty fun though. You cut 1/2 the cabbage up into pieces and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool for 20 minutes. You then mix equal parts urine and cabbage water together. If it turns pink (suposedly!!) it's a boy and purple it's a girl! I haven't tried it just because I don't get into the old wives tales much, but it sounds like fun anyway!

I did it with my ds and it was accurate, although I know it's really just 50/50. It was fun to do but it's so pricey. Someone bought it for me, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to convince dh to let me get it.

The red cabbage one seems prety easy and way less! Might try that, I think it's fun to try little things like this!

I have thought about that test, inteligender test. I might go ahead and buy it since this is my first! But I will probably do the cabbage test first and then see what the pricey test says too!

Can you do it before 10 weeks? If so, I'll do it today too!

Here is the link on how to do it and it says you should do it prior to 10 weeks for better results? Not sure if that is true or not!

So far, for my friends and family, the "baking soda test" has been 100%!! Has anyone tried that one in previous pregnancies?

The baking soda one you use 1 tablespoon of baking soda mixed with urine and if it fizzles it's a boy and if it does nothing its a girl. But I can't find how many weeks you can do this at and how much urine.

All of these tests test YOUR pH. It really has nothing to do with baby but would correspond with the 'gender diet' believers. Because honestly, if you eat a low pH diet you'll get one result and you can then do it the next day after eating really acidic or high pH foods and you'll get a different result.

I have read that you should use FMU. And I do think waiting until 10 weeks (like Intellegender says) is true for all but really, they are all just testing your pH.

Fun? I'm still debating. The baking soda test seems a lot easier than boiling cabbage. Oh yeah, the ladies on April '11 did a sticky of the results and they are about 1/2 correct, which are the natural odds anyway...50/50.

I had some red cabbage in my salad from Outback tonight so I saved it and did the cabbage gender test. Red/pink is supposed to be BOY Purple is supposed to be GIRL. From this it is saying I'm going to have a BOY!

Before Pic (cabbage water):

After pic immediately afterwards (with urine):

After pic after ~5min:

So I decided to do the baking soda test since it's here and easy.

Just for fun...it did nothing! I was actually quite surprised as I expect some sort of reaction. So I guess my baking soda test showed girl.

Still undecided if I'll go the lengths to do the cabbage test but we'll see. Smile

We should make a sticky of results to be updated when we get our u/s. That would be neat to see which was accurate.

Cabbage test seems inconclusive, or maybe I am having a carrot? My water turned orange. LOL

And btw, the smell of cabbage and cabbage water makes me feel ill.

Alright so I did the baking soda test 3 times lol

1 last night before bed- it was foamy and fizzled

1 this morning with fmu after not eating anything all night- fizzled like crazy

1 a little bit ago and it fizzled and foamed

So I guess that means I might be having a boy!

Jenn, were the ratios good? Hmmm...what color was the water before adding urine? Since orange is red/yellow could be that it's saying boy but I'd vote inconclusive. But I'm sure you'd love your little carrot no matter what!

Jenn- that is so strange! Was the cabbage water blue before you started? I boiled mine for 15 min to get the blue color. I also read it needs to be chopped up really fine for best results.

I am going to pee on some baking soda later today. This is so much fun! Smile

Yeah, cabbage just seems like a lot of waste and work.

I think I'll do the baking soda test again after I hit 10 weeks and see if the results change.

Ok did the baking soda test a few times. The first time it did nothing but I think I added too much urine. The 2nd time it fizzed and a little foam. The 3rd time it did nothing. This moring it fizzed and foamed a little. Hubby says it's twins LOL  I think it just depends on what I have drank.

I was thinking about a surprise, too, Ashly. But in the end I just felt like if I bond with this baby as one gender and it's another..,I know I will be disappointed. And having 4 boys, I automatically think boy so if it is not a boy, I just don't want to deal with that.

I think knowing early will help out with bonding. Also, DH keeps saying 'after we find out' so I know it's going to make things more real for him and get him thinking about the baby rather than just wife that's preggo with baby, hopefully that makes sense. Essentially I think it will help him feel more connected.

I might try the baking soda test though I can see my DH rolling his eyes at me... I know we are going to find out gender at the earliest possible date just like with DD... I want to be prepared.
