birth control advice

Needing some advice.... So I finally talked my doctor into letting me get my tubes tied. He only declined due to my age (22) but he made me a deal, I have to wait 2 months and really think about it more seriously. So I def want to get it done but I started thinking, will I want more kids in 10 years? I don't think I will because then I will have a 14 yr old and a 10 yr old....hmmm Am I too young to have such a permanent form of birth control.. At the same time I may be perfectly happy and not want any more.. soooo confused!

This is really a personal decision and I don't think anyone can tell you what to do one way or the other... In my opinion, you are very young to have such a permanent procedure done. You never know what life is going to bring and there are many other forms of birth control that will work just as well. At 22 years of age, I would try something else and, if in a few years, you feel the same then have the procedure done.

I hope you don't mind me lurking...

I have had this thought too, I'm 23 and TTC #2. I have thought about what I will do afterward, I personally feel like I would be absolutely devastated if for some reason that I may not be able to for see now in 5 or 10 years time I get a strong urge to have another child. On the other hand I don't know what else to do because I cant have the injection, I don't like the pill, IUD made me misserable...

I think that life can take so many unexpected turns and you never know what is going to happen, it's so difficult.

I wish you all the best in making this difficult decision Smile

I just had my post baby apt on thur and I told the doctors that I wouldn't be using birth control again. I had a young patient in the hosp before Christmas who had 3 blood clots that her doctors said came from the use of birth control. With my infertility issues I told the dr that it took so much for me to get pregnant with my daughter that I don't see a whoops happening. But everyone has to make their own choice.

Lurking ...

I had my tubes tied at 25. I was newly divorced and had 3 boys 5 and under. I got my tubes tied because i hated men (lol) and was never marrying or having kids again. I also believed it would "fix" horrible periods I was struggling with. Now, I have remarried and my husband and I want one together. I had my tube (only one was repairable) fixed last June. We have had one m/c since then. It's hard to cope with idea that our dream may never come true because of a decision I made.

I wish you the best of luck in your decision.
