Birth control after birth of baby

What is everyone doing or what are you thinking for birth control options after baby is born?

Hubby and I have talked in great length about this. I don't know 100% if I am done, but I do know I don't want anymore anytime soon! So I will not be getting a tubal and going to the IUD. My dr said 6 wks after the birth I can get one.

Right now it's up in the air. I am thinking I might try the IUD but still not sold on the idea. I WILL NOT do any pills as basically all hormonal birth control completely kills my labido and DH and I always argue when I am on it. It's totally not worth it. I have heard mixed reviews on the IUD though so I'm not sure. We will be using NFP until I can decide what I really want to do. I just really want to wait about 2 years between my next two and I really could use something that would help me do that.

Krista- The Mirena IUD does release a small amount of hormones still FYI.

As for me- If I get a c-section, I will have a tubal. If not, I will be on the minipill until DH gets cleared from his vasectomy. We are planning the V for the summertime when we can have Nicholas at my parents house for a week so DH can recover. Until then I will be on the minipill and hoping that and breastfeeding does the trick. I really don't forsee a lot of sex in the future for us those first few months anyway.

I have no idea what we are planning on doing, I had the IUD after my daughter, and it was soo painful I had it taken out within that week (i'm guessing it was just the way mine was placed or something) the pills make me feel really funky.. I actually did like the patch, and I was on that for a while, but it left that gross residue from like a band-aid

I am up in there air. I may go back on the mirena or if I go with pills I may try the seasonique or however you spell it OR I might try the nuvaring. My sister is going to start it so I am going to see how she likes it and maybe try that....Cant you tell I really have no idea haha

I have been on various forms of birth control pills since I was 14 years old and I tried the IUD. I am happy to finally say that I will be birth control free after this baby. Hubby will be going to get his vasectomy after this one is born.

After my daughter was born I got the Mirena, and hormonally it really screwed with me. Only birth control I have every been on to cause mood swings and severe acne, just what I needed for my self esteem after having a baby:( So those looking at the IUD because of previous bad reactions to the pill, maybe look into the copper IUD because I believe that one is the one that has no hormones.

I am going to look into the iud more I think, I don't want to take any pills and I don't want the depo ever again. My entire life and I was never on bc until after I had my 4th child and I did the depo it runied everything it took us 14 months to get pregnant and it was awful.

I am getting a tubal with my c-section. I don't like the thought of permanent but we are pretty sure this is the last baby for us. I had the mirena after ds- didn't notice much difference as for hormonal side effects. It did manage at the 4.5 yr mark to migrate into the right fallopian tube-so I did have to go in for a scope to get it removed. That is the only thing that went wrong with it.

Well since I have or had an infertility problem I really do not want to take anything that may interfere with my hormones. We have talked about trying for number 2 in about a year or so but it just depends on how things go. Landon may end up being the only little one but we will see in time Smile

I haven't prevented a pregnancy in 11 years so I really have no idea what we will do. I know I don't want to be on the pill, or get an IUD or anything else so we may be doing NFP until we know for sure we are done. I hate the idea of me taking my fertility into my own hands when it took so long for me to get pg own my own. However, I don't want to TTC or be careless either.

Right now we have no plan. OPKs and avoiding I guess?

We won't be using any form of BCP either. I took the mini-pill for about 8 months after my first and for about a yr after my second. I think I was a little nervous about getting pg too quickly after my C-section, so I stayed on it for longer the second time. Dh and I discussed it a lot when Daniel was a yr old, and we decided that we would leave it in God's hands and that I would not take BCP in the future. Like Jenn, it took us many yrs to get pg the first time, and we just don't feel right about preventing when we prayed for a baby for so long. My cycles didn't return until 11 months pp with my first and my cycles were messed up for a long time after my C-section. I don't think I got a normal AF until I was around 19/20 months pp and even then my cycle was all over the place (hence why this little one was such a surprise ! Wink ) so based on my history I figure we're safe for at least the first year, so I'm not worried.

I know the IUD has hormones still but rather than being digested and pushed through my entire system it will be localized. What I am hoping is that makes the difference. But like I said I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. NFP for sure though because I can't stand straight condoms and I need a break from them. Blum 3

most likely do the same as last time. going back on bcp after ds1 and dd really messed up my cycles so after my 3rd, we just did some nfp. It worked well enough. I want at least one more, probably very soon after this one so they are close in age.

Holly my last 2 are very close in age we didn't plan it that way but really I thought it was just the same amount of work as waiting! I did get werid looks being pregnant and carrying a 5 month old lol but I loved it. They are into the same things and play with each other and the younger one sits on the older one and it's a lot of fun!

Also I love that they are the same age for awhile and people are like what? Smile

Thats funny--yeah, my first 2 are the closest. dd was a surprise and so they are 20 months apart--for 4 months each year they sound like they are a year apart as right now they are 6 & 7 so I get comments on that one. But they are best friends and once dd hit 2-3, they have always been into the same stuff and really love to play together, even as girl and boy. I just don't want my last one to be 3+ years younger than the next one up--right now this one will be 3.5 years younger than ds2. I think its hard for the youngest. Right now my BIL is 3.5 yrs younger than the next and its almost like she is grown and gone and he hasn't even begun high school yet. He feels left behind! Ideally, I would have twins last--so they would always have one another! But I doubt that would ever happen! LOL My friend has that--twins at the end and she loves it that they always have a friend.
