Can I Wear Maternity Clothes Yet?!?!?

It's bad enought that I had already gained some weight before even getting pg, and my clothes were already feeling extra snug....but now it's ridiculous. I don't even have the zipper on my pants done up. It probably doesn't help that I went to a Chinese buffet for lunch. But really...I think it might be time to bust out the maternity clothes.

LOL Gotta love the bloat.

I actually really like my maternity clothes. I got some really cute stuff last time. So I am looking forward to busting them out, just for a change of wardrobe (currently sick to death of my normal stuff.)

But then I think, if I break that stuff out now, what will I have to look forward to when I really am getting bigger?

Also, I refuse to admit that I might be getting bigger until after my brother's wedding. Bridesmaid's dress *must* fit. Only 6 weeks to go.....

No one's going to judge if you bust out now, LOL. If I had maternity pants, I'd be wearing them, as they're infinitely more comfortable. As it is now, I wear t-shirts or empire-waisted shirts for the most part, so I'm pretty comfortable there.

Im about ready to go find some lol. I just realised I gave my good maternaty jeans away because I really didnt see myself having another one, oie. Looks like I get to go shopping for new stuff! hehe. With DS I didnt want to wear maternity clothes, i just bought a size up and then when I finally go them I knew what I was missing. Im contemplating asking my boss if I can wear some maternity pants to work since mine are tight and dont button but im afraid she will think im just making excuses :/

Lisa - why would you have to ask to wear maternity clothes to work?

I'm in and out of some maternity clothes right now. Some days the pain of tight regular clothes just isn't worth it. It seems to add to my nauseous state.

I posted this on the Dec board this morning:

Ok. So I am officially in the fat stage.

If I wear my regular pants I have a muffin top.

If I wear maternity pants they fall down everytime I take a few steps.

My bella band sucks and doesn't work well.

What are you ladies doing???? Any advice for clothes??? Right now my choice is muffin top with larger top to try and disguise it.

Holy moly I am almost 8 weeks and this is already happening. UGHHHHH

I actually just went through my maternity stuff and I'm seriously thinking about wearing them real soon lol! I want to get new maternity jeans though, right now I'm just wearing pull on jeans and leggings around the house, when I go out I'm wearing my regular jeans but they're really uncomfortable.

Because we have a uniform and the pants we have arent actually black, they have a brown tinge to them and if I wore my black slacks you would be able to tell they were the work issued pants.

Makes sense now. I wasn't thinking of uniforms. Duh! LOL

Um, I'm just going to be a loser and admit that I *gasp* never stopped wearing one of my pairs of mat pants from my last pregnancy. I lost a lot of weight during the pregnancy, and got rid of my old dress pants, so I didn't have any to replace my maternity dress pants after my pregnancy. I couldn't find any that fit right to buy, so I didn't. But I guess now I'm not a loser anymore for wearing them. lol

I got rid of ALL my maternity things, AND ALL the clothes from when I was losing weight. I am now stuck w/ size 5s & 27" waists....so not gonna continue for long.

My bf & my bdays are both coming up. A wk before I found out I was pregnant I got this kinda hoochie dress from Forever 21. I think for our bdays we are going to go to the horse races & go eat at the VIP club, etc there. Mainly just so I can wear that black dress before it starts to gather dust. lol.

Heeheeheee. I still have a maternity sweater that I never packed away and have worn since T was born. It's just a big comfy soft grey sweater - I don't think that it looks particularly "maternity" - it just looks baggy. It's like the most comfy article of clothing I own. DH HATES it. With a passion!

I just bought some belly bands because in theory you can use them to cover the top of your regular pants if you unable to keep them buttoned. As you get bigger you can use them to help hold up maternity pants if they are slightly loose on you and near the end of the pregnancy it can be used to cover the gap between your pants and underbelly if your shirt doesn't quite cover you. I bought them last week because I was really bloated from constipation (TMI sorry). Now that I'm more regular it's not too much of a problem...but who knows how long that will last.

I love the theory, which is why I got a bella band with my first pregnancy....but I've found THEY DON'T WORK Sad It always seems like the thing rolls up or down when I sit or bend over. It's a day of constant adjustment which is annoying. I did use it post partum some and I've worn it a day or two here and there with this pg but I wish I could use it everyday. I just can't take the rolling!!!

I've never done that surprisingly. I'll have to try it today and see how it goes Smile Thanks!

Hmmm...haven't had that issue yet but I've only worn them at home. The true test will be at work where I do a ton of bending, reaching and lifting. Fortunately my scrub pants have elastic and drawstring waist so I think I might be able to squeeze by a few more months. What's unfair is that we have uniform restrictions at one of my hospitals and the nurses have a maternity scrubs option for their colors but we therapists do not have it available in our color. It also doesn't help that the therapy color is purple so we look like pregnant Barney dinosaurs Sad

I never bought the Bands because I thought I would have the same issue with the rolling, etc. Not fun to deal with!

I HAVE done the hair tie to close my pants button though!! I was preggo with DS#4 and I could not find my maternity jeans for the life of me. Grrr. I threw on an old pair, zipped them half way, and grabbed an elastic through the button whole. It worked but it was so uncomfortable in the end! And left a horrible mark on my tummy.

the trick is to use a big enough elastic....i've now upgraded to full sized rubber bands. Lol
