CD1 so here I am officially! Now to talk to my manager(loss ment)

AF showed today which I am happy about. I don't think I even O'ed last month after my CP and because I was so sick, because I had no AF symptoms at all!!

I now have to go get my Clomid from the pharmacy tonight so I can start it on Thursday.

I'm stressed today though because I have to tell my manager. Last time I did Clomid/IUI my schedule worked out PERFECT in that the week I did the monitoring/IUI I was on the late/work from home shift that we rotate on to ever 11 weeks. Unfortunately this month I'm on the 8-4 shift which will NOT work with the clinic, so I have to trade or re-schedule my hours for a few days. Ugg.... I really do not like disclosing personal info like this to my manager but she is nice and all so hopefully she will be ok with it. Crossing my fingers!!

EEEK! I chickened out yesterday and today my manager isn't here! She's working from home! Would it be wrong to send it to her via email you think?

I personally think it's FINE to send it in an email, especially since you aren't particularly close to her. Plus, then it's "in writing" and something you can refer to later ("on 4/5/11 I sent you an email telling you I needed my schedule changed"....she might conveniently "forget" a face-to-face conversation).

I don't know your boss or if it's even necessary to have it in writing, but it wouldn't hurt and gives you a little extra security Smile

GOOD LUCK this month Rachael! I would put something in an email that you have a doctor's appointment scheduled for x x x days and she can talk to you in person if she wants to know why. It really is none of their business.

Done and done. I just told her that I needed to go to the clinic daily for blood work for some testing that I didn't want to go into detail over email. I'll probably tell her in person, maybe go for a coffee. She's really nice and I've known her for 2 years and 5 months as we were in the same department, but she's only been my manager for the last 4 months so that's why it's a little weird still (new in my job). If I had been here a little longer I probably wouldn't care as much, I just don't want her to feel like I'm abandoning the team after just getting promoted here.

Lots of haggling too at work. I had to convince two co-workers to shift trade with me and not explain in detail too much what it was for.

And thanks for the good luck wishes! I just hope it works this time as well like in February!! Off to get my Clomid tonight so I can start taking it tomorrow.

Rachael I am just curious- how many times do you get your blood drawn during this process?

In total for the whole cycle? 9 times. Once a day from CD 10-15 and then three beta draws.

On a side note - I went and got a liquid iron supplement yesterday because my iron is low again due to all the blood draws. I MUST remember to take it daily because Iron Deficiency can be bad for pregnancy (and some studies say it can lead to infertiltiy!!) Mine has always been chronically low (not even low normal but REALLY low) since my teens. I've got it up a few times to low normal range, but not often. I had it in that range before the IUI last time. THis time I'm worried because it's back way low again with all the blood draws.

I need to eat more meat!!

Rachael, also look into dark leafy greens like spinach for iron supplements. I don't know if your doctor told you this, but if you take your iron supplement with orange juice that can help your body absorb the iron better. Calcium; however, hinders the absorption so never take your supplement with milk.

When you break down the blood draws like that it makes sense. I hope all of the poking is worth it!!!

Thanks Angela for the info. I've actually done a ton of research on it. In university I moved to the island of Antigua for 6 months and researched the effects of iron deficiency anemia on the skeletons found in a napoleonic era cemetery. It's kind of an obsession of mine. If only I knew how to cure it for myself for good!!

That's great Rachael that you are familiar with it. I have been to Antigua before and it was SO AMAZING!!!! Lucky you getting to be there for 6 months, we were only there for 8 hours (cruise).
