exciting night at ER

I went to the ER last night with right side abdominal pain. I was so worried it was an ectopic pregnancy. Long story short, I had an u/s and the baby is in the uterus! 5-6 weeks along, all they saw was the yolk sac but said that was normal for where I was measuring. My blood hCG levels came back normal for 5-6 weeks development too. No problems with my appendix, ovary, or the fallopian tube that they could see. I still have the pain but it's not any worse. They suggested it could be pain from the corpus luteum cyst, but that it looked normal by u/s. Do any of you have pain from yours or know anything about it? I have to call and schedule a follow up blood work and u/s in a week so they can try to see a heartbeat. In the meantime, I am in dull pain and not hungry at all although I did manage to eat some cereal this morning. Would appreciate some information if you ladies know anything about this. Thanks!

I just got off the phone with my doctor's office. Turns out my corpus luteum has fluid behind it which they think is slowly leaking into my abdominal cavity and causing the discomfort. It should just be reabsorbed, but since it is not leaking into my uterus, I am not bleeding at all. They also say my hormone levels are fantastically high: 27,174. I have no idea what that means but they will do a repeat u/s next week and skip the bloodwork. Crazy times.

Lots of women complain of sharp pains during early pregnancy and it is the cyst that causes it.

If everything else looked great I wouldn't worry about it too much. Did they do a vaginal us? If not, that may he why they didn't see it.

Glad baby is ok, though!

Yes, they did a vaginal u/s and a regular u/s too to look at the kidneys, appendix and some other stuff. I guess it must be the cyst that is causing the pain. I am going to go google that. I am delighted the baby looks good so far!

i had terrible stabbing pains in my lower left abdomen with my first pregnancy...i thought for sure something was wrong, but nope...it's totally normal. some people told me it was round ligament pain, although i don't know why it happens that early...i had it later in the pregnancy too, as i started to get bigger.

my cousin and grandmother both had the same pains early in their pregnancies, too.

glad to hear your little bean is ok and the u/s gave you some reassurance too!

Glad to hear that the baby looks great! I have had a few sharp pains here and there that I think are RLP (even had one the night BEFORE my BFP!) but nothing lasting. I hope that your pain decreases and that you are able to get more comfortable.
