Gender ultrasound

I know it's early yet to be thinking about this, but is anyone planning on getting an elective gender scan done at a 3d/4d place? I did last pregnancy at 16 weeks and I think I may this time too.

Just out of curiosity I looked to see how much they would charge for only a 2d gender ultrasound so we could find out earlier. Ummm...no I am NOT spending $150 to find out. I am just going to wait until 18 weeks and find out for "free".

It's $50 here... my mom is going to pay for it (last time MIL paid). It is expensive but also fun for the family to be there when the gender is revealed.

Whoa, Angela, that is insane!

I got one with DS#4 and it was only $65. We did it at 17 weeks.

I am almost sure I'll be doing it again but haven't completely decided, yet. If we do decide to do it, I could find out at the end of July! Crazy!

My SIL is having her first baby, a girl, and her baby shower is August 20th... I could potentially find out the weekend before and then if it were a boy give her all my girl stuff since we're travelling down there anyways. That's the excuse I'm using, but really I just want to know as soon as I can.

Just remember to ask what side of your uterus the baby is attached to! Then it's free!

I looked into this but the 2 local places are 120.00 and that is a lot. I don't want to find out the gender but hubby wants to know so he can wait till we go to the dr and do it free so really I'm not worried Smile

Ill find out the gender from the Drs u/s but whenever DH starts working and we get caught up were going to get the 3D done because I think it's so neat to see the baby that closely.

Wow if it was only $50 I would so do it at 15 weeks. They say that is the earliest you can tell. EEEK can you believe that would be July 8th for me? I guess I'll just wait till the end of July though Smile

I will wait until the u/s at the docs to get the gender done...but I think that I might have a 3d one done closer to the end just for the keepsake - I didnt ever get one for #2 b/c the naval hospital did not have the capabilities. DD did get one b/c they had it at the doctors office in Tampa where she was born. Smile

Hehe, remember, there's always IntelliGender! http://www.intelligender.com

I have no idea how accurate they claim to be now, but I remember previous BB talking about it. Wink

Someone bought me that when I was pg with DS - it was accurate for me. I read all kinds of comments on it and of course its 50/50. I did hear you get a lot of false positives for a girl reading but not a boy - or maybe its the other way around?!

My OB does the gender scan at 20 weeks. However, I want to pay for a 3d/4d scan at 26-28 weeks at his office. My dh doesn't want me to because its $150. My mom and grandmother said they would "find a way to cover the cost" so that they could go too and see him/her. Smile

I did intelligender w/ Violet & it was wrong.

I will wait to find out the sex @ my ob's office. I have done the 3D u/s w/ both my girls @ the end, like 30 or so weeks. I like to see them w/ all their chub & how they are really going to look when they come out.

I have gone to the same place both times. It's amazing. It is $75 & you get like 4 pics & a cd w/ all of them. Also it is done in this dark room w/ couches, etc. About 10 people are welcome to come & the u/s is shown up on this large screen.

Last time my bro was in town from Europe so he got to be w/ us, along w/ my mom, my other bro, his girlfriend, my ex & our older girl. We always go eat at this Mexican place down the street when we are done.

LOVE IT!

Last baby, my dr office had a 3D machine, so we got a 3d automatically. But I heard from my friend who just had her baby there a few months ago that they don't have it anymore? I haven't looked into the cost at other places though.

Does the baby look creepy when you do the 3D so early? before they get their chub?

On the inteligender test... cost is $30 for half chance.... I'd rather spend $20 more bucks and be guaranteed! If they can't get the gender from 15 weeks on they will let you come back for free.

With DD I had 2 3d ultrasounds. The first one at 16 weeks and she still looked chubby... then the second one at I think around 28 weeks. My place gives you a DVD of it and sets it to the music you choose (we chose Metallica lullabies, lol).. I think I watched the DVD's once after we got home and now they're collecting dust. and DD looked NOTHING like her 4d pictures. I'll see if I have any on here to show you.

Okay this was at the last appointment... 28 weeks or something like that

She looks really chubby right?

here she is 5 weeks later I think this was a day old

BUT here she is around 3 weeks old

I just noticed she looks more like it in the 3 week picture than the NB... prob cause she put on some weight.

That's what makes me slightly hesitant to do it. My OB gives you a DVD of the 20 week gender scan. Dh set it to music and put it on youtube and I watch it about 2-3 times a year. I don't know if forking over $150 is worth it for something that will literally only be exciting for 45-60 minutes.

With DD we did the 3D, but I'm not sure how far along I was. I think it cost about $75. DH thought she looked funny, but it was actually a really great shot. However, that would just be my DH, being totally against something based on the cost. LOL! We probably won't do one this go around.

With this LO, we are supposed to find out the sex at 16 weeks since I'm having all these extra U/S's, so I have about 5 weeks to go and the suspense is still killing me! It'll be a vaginal U/S so it should be more accurate. I can't wait to hear how everyone predictions went!!!

YAY!!!
