glucose test question

Ok so i completely forgot that I had my glucose test tomorrow until my husband reminded me. He reminded me while I was finishing up my java chip from starbucks lol, will that have any effect on the test since I have it so early in the morning? I am drinking water the rest of the night just to help a little. Any advice would be great, thanks!

It won't matter, I don't think. GD is more of something that can't be hidden or instigated from what you eat.

My OB told me not to eat a lot of sugary stuff the day of my test (my test is in the afternoon). My DH is diabetic, and told me to skip the sugary cereal that morning, lol. Exercise helps lower blood sugar. If it's not too late, maybe go for a walk tonight?

Yeah she told me i dont have to fast just dont eat anything sweet that morning. Its at 840am, I will literally crawl out of bed and head up there lol. Hopefully all is well, I didnt have any GD with DS so hopefully it isnt an issue with this one either, and Maya is already a LOT smaller than Z was at this gestational age.

My OB said no sweets after midnight and then eat something for breakfast like toast with real butter on it and I think I had some water but she suggested black coffee (YUCK). I think having something on my stomach was the only way to keep me from :puke2: from all that sugar.

Naw, it shouldn't matter with the 1 hour test. The fasting 3 hour test is different though - you should definitely follow the instructions if you have to do that one. I have experience as I've had GDB for 2 of my 3 pg's.

Hope it goes well for you!

i could have swore my doctor told me to eat a king size candy bar the night before. That would be wishful thinking though!;)

Why are you doing the glucose test so early? I thought you typically did it at 24 weeks, right?

Yeah it usually is. I figure its because im fat lol. I really have no idea. I talked to my Dr about getting the dizzy spells when I havent eaten which has happened only twice. Plus she said with the fact that my son was almost 9lbs when he was born at 38 weeks made her want to do an early one. I kept trying to tell them that it was inevitable that my son was going to be big, his dad was a 10lb baby and very tall as well but oh well, at least its done and out of the way.

My OB sent me for the 1 hour test about a month ago (he did the same with my last pregnancy). I failed because I had a big glass of OJ the morning of, I was slightly over where he wanted me to be. He sent me for the 3 hour test and I ate nothing that morning, eveything was fine.
In my case I believe my 1 hour results were due to the OJ I had right before going to the lab.
My OB sends me early because I am plus sized, I am sure! He will send me again at 28 weeks, I can't wait...lol

Yeah I guess some OBs have it in their head that just because someone is fat they're completely unhealthy and will have unhealthy babies. Shocking for my weight I am a completely healthy person. All my blood levels, cholesterol, blood pressure etc has always been great. I didn't eat anything from about roughly 7pm last night and only drank water so hopefully my test is fine. I don't think I'll have to have another one, I'm pretty sure she just wanted the early one and then I'd be done. At least I hope..

That is so true, fat does not equal unhealthy. I am sure your test will be fine.
