? heartbeat via U/S.. How far along do you have to be?

Good Day ladies,

How far along do you have to be before you can actually hear the lil heartbeat via U/S?
I go for my U/S tomorrow so I am hoping to hear those lil beats but I am only 10 weeks and 4 days along.. a lil worried about tomorrow but I am keeping positive. ( just not a good past experience)

(hugs)

With my first I was 11 weeks when we first tried and they couldn't hear it. I had to wait a whole month until I first heard that beautiful sound - ugh!!!

With my 2nd and 3rd we did a trans-vag u/s so I was able to see it very early (like 8 weeks) so that was nice peace of mind but I could hear the heartbeat on the doppler until around 12 weeks-ish.

So if you're doing a trans-vag u/s I would say your odds are very good that you'll see that little flutter. If it's an abdominal one it may be more difficult.

GL - I hope it goes really well for you!!

I have always heard it with the vaginal u/s. I don't know if it has something different that allows them to hear it or not so not much help there.

If using a doppler, it really depends on a lot but some women hear it at 10 weeks.

Abdominal u/s...I'm not sure. I know you can see the hb early but I've never had them turn on a listening device so I could hear it. I just get to see it and see the sound waves where they measure it.

With a transvag u/s I heard it at 6w5d. With the doppler (this was the first time my OB tried it) I was 12 weeks. And I was finally able to find it at 14 weeks at home.

With both my boys we heard the heart beat at 10 weeks. BUT that being said I'm between 95 and 100 pounds. SO very thin. As for u/s I heard my second ones hb at 9 weeks with a abdominal u/s, but once again, i'm really thin so I experience everything sooner, which in some cases may not be a good thing.

Good luck Roni!! We all know how anxious you get before it's heard when you finally get the chance.

I think I heard mine right before my 10wks. The nurse couldn't find it, but my ob, who is a little more rough & tough did. S/he was hiding under my pelvic bone.

I had a dating ultrasound at 7 weeks exactly and via abdominal ultrasound were able to hear and see the baby's heartbeat. Good luck and I hope you get good results Smile
