How do you plan on telling your family the sex of your baby??

Hi ladies!!!
I was just wondering if anyone was planing on doing anything creative to announce the sex of your baby??

We are planning on doing a gender reveal party where we are NOT told boy or girl by the sonographer and have the results sealed in an envelope and sent off to a bakery of our choice. We would find out the gender of the baby along with close friends and family when we cut into the cake and its either blue or pink!! The only down fall is we will have our gender U/S AUG 8th and not have the get together with our fiends and family to cut the cake until Aug 10th, So its going to be super hard walking out of a gender scan and not knowing the gender!! AHHH! lol

Also I was wondering if any of you have a good idea on how to tell all of my family who lives in a different state, i would like to do something fun and creative for them as well, so they dnt feel left out!

We did it like this:

It was a lot of fun to surprise everyone and we got tons of comments that they loved how we did it. No one saw it coming.

I can't wait to hear about your party!

I love that idea w the cake! I find out in the 1st an my mom wants to be the first so know so we made a deal. She works and has a 10am break and she is a smoker so she goes outside, my apt is at 8am so if it is a girl I will be waiting outside of her work and if I'm not ther she will know it's a boy. We thought it was a cute idea. Kinda gives her something to look forward to that day. She has 4 grandsons and just 1 granddaughter. We need more girls! Lol

I think dh and I want to do the cake idea as well with our family, but we'll DEFINITELY be finding out first in the u/s room, lol! I think for my co-workers I'll make cupcakes, hollow out the center with an apple corer and fill with pink or blue icing...then cover with a neutral icing in top and watch them bite in! Biggrin

We found out today and all our families know they have a surprise coming.

I'll be making some baby themed sugar cookies and decorating the in blue and white. I'll bag and tie each one and then package in a gender neutral package. That way they get to open the box and have a surprise and treat.

My cookie cutters are bottles, rattles, a baby in a blanket, and DH suggested a sign that says "no girls allowed. I love the idea!

All my family lives 1,200+ miles away from me so I will probably take a picture of my daughter holding a blue or pink outfit and email or Facebook everyone. I might even just post a pic of the ultrasound on Facebook. So jealous of everyone having gender parties!

Jill- our families are all far away, too. That's one reason we don't do parties. But I thought a fun alternative was a surprise gift.

Renee- I know!!! There is no way i can be incharge to pick up the cake, I wouldnt be able to resist to sneek a peak before the dinner party!

Thinktink- That is a very cute idea, your mom will be so anxious all morning!!!

verdouxkai- I love the cupcake filling idea, maybe i can send a cupcake to each of my family members in fl!!

turtnjay- Congrats on baby boy number 5!! I think I will be like you, I have always just "known" im going to be a mom of all boys. We'll see....
I love the cookie idea, I just hope my family will be patient enough to wait to get the package! I'll just have to tell them, they found out a week before the NY family that I was pregnant, SO its the NY familys turn to find out a week before them the gender!!

Thank you girls for your great ideas!!!!

Cute ideas everyone!

For us, DH will text everyone once we find out. I also invited my mom and MIL to the ultrasound so they can experience it with us. This is our last baby and I know it means a lot to both of them to be there. I'm super excited!

All of our family is far away too--haven't even thought about how we would tell. If we are not cruel and let them be surprised until the birth! LOL But I don't think we will be so mean. Great ideas though!

For this pregnancy, DH posted it on facebook right away, so we immediately had to get on the phone and call everyone so our family members didn't find out on FB. Needless to say, he was a little excited.

But for Tanner, we sent our moms big balloon bouquets with pink balloons and "IT'S A GIRL" balloons. Then that evening we went to dinner with my dad and stepmom and my step-sisters and their DH's. I'd ordered black martini shakers from oriental trading company. I called the restaurant before hand and explained our plan and when we got to the restaurant I had the bartender fill them with cosmopolitans and then they served them to everyone in our party. Everyone was frantically trying to get the tops off. It was hilarious! Definitely memorable for DH and I.
