I am NOT a happpy camper right now!!! (OT) UPDATE

Its almost 2am and I am up still, why? Because my room is completely under water!!! It started pouring rain and there was water on the floor, no worries because im in the basement and it floods a little sometimes. Well i actually get up and the water it to my door! The water is just pouring in from under the basement door. Apparently with all the rain our drains cant keep up and there about 4" of water in our basement! Mine and DS's room are completely flooded. We did everything to get all our stuff off the floor but the floor and carpet are going to be ruined. I was completely in tears. Now I am just livid! EVERY time things start looking up for more something always happens and screws it up and makes things hard on me again! It never fails! My mom is calling the insurance company come monday and they better be able to do something about it. We tried getting the drains to unclog which worked for like a minute and then they stopped again, they just cant keep up Sad So we made sure all electrical systems etc were unplugged, all outlets are empty and have everything that we could at least a foot off the ground. I have boxes from moving back with some winter clothes in them and im sure those are ruined by now :bluesad:

These are from when it first started, its worse now Sad

**So apparently our house insurance doesnt cover the damage since we dont have flood insurance. We dont have flood insurance because we are a very low risk of flood where I live. Guess they were wrong! So I will be spending my next few days in a gross wet basement getting water out of my carpet hoping and praying the wood is still good. Apparently a lot of people had flooding because of how hard and fast the rain had hit. There was a block that the flooding in the basements were so bad that the water actually filled the basement and was coming up to ground level. That is insane! We are adding flood insurance today as a precaution. Now im going to be freaking out anytime we have a downpoor, ugh. This has never happened and I really hope it was just a freak occurance. Hopefully I can get myself to actually go down there because I really dont want to do it, ugh.**

Oh no I am sorry, I hope it doesn't ruin too much, I think your landlord needs to fix something so it doesnt happen again!

Lisa, how awful! I'd be bawling like a baby in your situation! I hope the insurance people will come through.

My landlords are my parents lol. I live with them right now until me and DH get back on our feet since he had that stroke. We had a terrible storm and it just downpoured for like 2 hours. They even had to close some roads because the river flooded. It was just too much too fast and the drains couldnt keep up. My friends basement flooded as well just not as bad as ours. The water is gone, we just have to get ahold of the insurance company tomorrow and find out what they can do for the floor. We just built it 3 years ago and its all going to have to be replaced.

Sorry the update isn't great. Definitely get a carpet cleaner to help suck up the water from the carpet. And lots of fans once it's relatively dry. I do think they have 'disaster' type cleaning services for after flood or fire, etc. Maybe they can help and aren't too expensive?

Of course, now that you have the insurance, it won't flood again. Wink

I got it all cleaned up today, I used my brothers carpet cleaner and sucked up all the water and then I cleaned the carpets, my mom bleached and then scrubbed the concrete part so its looking really good. Of course I got yelled at because im impatient and was moving furniture around lol.

:bigarmhug: I'm so sorry Lisa. That sounds awful. I'm glad you were able to get it cleaned up nicely, and hopefully your stuff is not too badly damaged.
