Interesting visit to the ER last night

Well since I was having some very odd pain yesterday, I called my doctor's office. The triage nurse suggested for me to go to the ER because of my medical history. I could have gone to the OB office this morning but she wanted my cervix checked via U/S. So off to the ER I went. Well long story short is all they did was look and poke at my cervix. (no change thank goodness)

This doctor told me that at this point there is no need for me to have a U/S done. He also stated that he is not sure why my OB would of ordered one last week because of how far along I am. I explained that they also wanted to check Landon's size etc. He then stated that I am 3 days away from being 34 weeks and if I was to go into labor they wouldn't stop it at this point. I found that surprising as I thought that they would hold me off till at least 37 weeks. He as saying this in general and then he said also your little guys is measuring ahead.

I guess I should relax a bit now that everything will be okay with him but that really was surprising to hear. I guess it is because they are one of the top hospitals in Florida therefore they are equipped to handle pre-term babies. Idk.. it sounds strange to me.. He said the pain I was feeling was normal pressure pain and he said as Landon gets bigger it will come and go more often.. so confusing.. as it felt really different.. :confused

Wow, I thought they stopped labor until 37 weeks. Glad to know they feel he will do well if he comes early Smile

So your OB said that they'd stop labour up to 37 weeks? My hospital has a "34 week" policy as well; if you're 34 weeks or further, then they just let you go. As far as I understand it, 34 weeks is the point at which babies' survival rate is as high as full-termers. Doesn't mean that they won't have problems, just that they will live. I personally think it's stupid. Why wouldn't you give them the best chance possible?

Yay on a date! That must be so neat, knowing exactly when he's coming. How many weeks along will you be then?

Yeah it's confusing..

The OB just said it is too early and she wants him to stay put until at least 37 weeks. Which most likley I will cause I am still on progestrone injections. For my c-section I will be 39 weeks Smile
