midwife appointment today...

Everything looks good. Blood pressure was good and I'm up 2 pounds. Smile 99.8. Baby sounded good. She didn't tell us the heart rate but it sounded good still. Yes she only found 1 heart rate in there and my uterus height is normal for how far along I am. Had my labs drawn today and she used the butterfly needle, thank goodness. It was SO much better. Sadly the vein she used was in a spot that bruises easy. But at least it didn't hurt during the process.

Next appointment is September 8th and in the closer clinic. Smile

My midwife also told me that because I don't eat enough veggies and fruits that I need to start making a green smoothie a day. Honestly I thought it sounded nasty but I made one yesterday and I LOVED it! Even my picky 18 month old went after it!

Great appt! My kids love green smoothies! If there's enough fruits in there too! Smile Kale doesn't actually add too much flavor if you've got some fruits in there.

I actually used spinach. I don't do kale myself but spinach adds a nice texture and flavor. Smile I had peaches, strawberry yogurt, apple/fruit juice, and spinach.

Congrats on the great appointment! I think I may try one of those smoothies, for both myself and my picky DS. I think I have everything except the peaches Blum 3

It really is and with one cup full of smoothie I get all the veggies and fruit servings I need in a day. Smile It's awesome!

How much spinach do you add, I have the leaves does it have to be cooked first?

Just make sure you don't put too much spinach in there compared to fruit or else it wont taste as well. Smile Oh I also had my spinach frozen and my peaches were partially frozen as well. It's best good and cold which is why I used the frozen things. My midwife suggested using banana as well and I think that would have finished off the flavor nicely.

Nope, no cooking necessary, all the recipes I found just call for a handful of the fresh spinach. You will probably have to tweak it to your liking. I suggest starting out with a small amount of spinach and then if you think you want more add a little bit more till it's right for you. I had a whole peach and probably about 3/4 of yogurt if not a full cup and then a couple TBS of juice. I didn't really measure things but I know I used way to much spinach at first. It made 2 8oz cups of smoothie, good thing DH wanted some too. lol.
