Names

I think there was already a thread a while back about names, but I didn't feel like going back to find it. Is anyone thinking about names already? DH and I were talking about names the other night, and for a boy he likes Nicholas, but wants to spell it Nikolas which I really like, and his middle name would be Sean after DH, so Nikolas Sean. For a girl we've always talked about Olyvia Nicole.

Still plenty of time to hash it out, but so far we're agreeing pretty good!

Dh and I were talking about this last night. We're set on our boy name since our last pregnancy- Levi Joshua. Not sure about girl's name. We had Lily Ane Grace last time, but changed our minds to Ainsley last minute.

We discuss names as we come across one that one of us likes - but we haven't agreed on any yet. We did decide to wait until we know the gender so we only have to pick out one name. Last time we had 4 names picked out in case I was having twins with IVF. Then we narrowed it down to our favorite girl and boy name when we found out there was just one baby. So it was either Deacon or Claire. Dh still wants to use Claire but now I'm not sure I do.

I like the names you have. I've been thinking a lot about Olivia too but we can't use it because of someone we know that used it - don't you hate that!?

With Ethan, we didn't decide his name until I was 8 months preggo. We just never thought about until that point. We will probably wait until later on with this one as well......we will probably come up with a couple and decide closer to birth.

We're kinda high-speed and already have names picked out for both a boy and a girl - to be fair, we've had the boy's name picked out for years, LOL.

For a boy, he'll be David Aaron, and for a girl, she'll be Madeleine Isabella. I was dying to use Isabella for a first name, but it's just so damn common now, plus all the Twihards are naming their girls Isabella/Bella, and I really don't like the series.

DH and I were discussing this last night. Well, by discussing, I mean that I said "You don't have to think of a girls name because I have that covered." For a girl, I love the name Amelia Quinn. DH didn't say too much about it other than "Amelia Quinn, huh?" But he didn't outright say "No, I hate it!" either. Yeah, it'll grow on him.

For a girl's name I really like Braelyn and for a boy's name I like Brogan. I seem to be stuck on the "Br" sound...I just love the way it rolls!

Last night DH mentioned that he really liked the name Clint. I think that we are going to have to have some more discussions.

DH and I have decided on waiting until we find out the gender before picking or even discussing names. I don't want to get attached to a name and then not be able to use it. Though I admit, I have peeked at a few lists. Wink

We have our criteria:

1) common name people have heard of before
2) A name someone can spell correctly (so no Y for an I type thing)
3) Name needs to be on the top 100 list (kind of goes with #1)

For a girl:

I like Julia. Dh likes Emily

For a boy:

DH and I like Jonathan. I like William (although maybe that will be a common name on this board )

Hahahahaha @ lots of Williams on the board, Angela!

Our rules are pretty similar. Easy to pronounce, easy to spell, not too weird (so that probably lands us on the top#100), but also not too common (so I'm avoiding the top #20-ish)

I love Jonathan. That's my DH's name, so I'm probably biased, but I just think it is such a strong, smart name. Smile

I love, love, LOVE names!!

Our boy name is pretty much decided...
Henry William Nash and he will go by Nash

Girl name is up in the air...kind of... Wink
Winter Ollie Catherine

I love Winter and DH always said no. Then, at the beginning of April he said if I got preggo with a girl I could name her Winter. I about died. Then he started using the nickname Winnie. Low and behold, I got preggo that same cycle!!

My odds of having a girl are not good so I don't think I'll get to use it but I love it!

Henry, William, Ollie, and Catherine are all family names.

We're totally undecided! I'm so sure this baby has to be a boy, so I'm hardly thinking of girl names. (Watch that come back to haunt me--LOL!) We both like Griffin Christopher for a boy. My FIL passed away in August of 2010, so we really need to use Christopher in some way. I'd like for it to be the first name and call him Topher, but DH hates it. We both love southern/country sounding name, but DH doesn't want anything "to wierd". I also like Carter and Asher for a boy.

As for a girl, no clue! I love Macon and Grayson, but I'd like to use names that have meaning for us. The family names left after Tanner were doozies.

We have talked about names and the girls name is etched in stone, her name will be Mya and the boys name we pretty much agreed on Hunter, still not too sure on some middle names though.

The discussion hasn't come up yet. I think both dh and I are a bit scared to talk too much about any planning right now. And I really hate that I feel that way, but I'm just kind of holding my breath for at least the next 5 weeks until my first appt (where I'm sure they'll do an u/s and having an u/s at 10 weeks I'll feel more confident that nothing will happen). But I do have some leftover names I liked from my other kids pregnancies. I'm sure we'll revisit those first. Smile

*facepalm*

Speaking of bizarre names, I have also heard about (probably an urban legand) people naming their kids after ESPN. Espn, or Espen.

I've only been looking at girl names. Haha. Haven't discussed with dh yet. He wants to wait until we know what we're having. Cameron was supposed to be Nathaniel (we'd had that name picked out for years). Cameron was #2 on our list. When I went into labor at 25 weeks we changed it to Cameron. Haha.

Our rules are similar. Easy to spell, easy to pronounce, not too weird. Although I'm trying to stay out of the top 100.

I like Maya, Teagan, Nicola, Charlotte, and Katherine. Think dh will only agree with Katherine on that list. Haha.
