NST questions

Our birthmom never went to the hospital or doctor after the leak or contractions. But she was already scheduled to have a 3hr monitoring today. I went and read her medical records from her last appointment and the drs note says 3hr NST. I've googled NST and I'm confused as to why they would order the NST and if having this test done would make them deliver the baby earlier. The birthmom told us the doc said the baby was big and wanted to monitor her for 3hrs every friday.

Everything I've read on NST says for GDB, low fetal movement, small baby, high risk. She doesn't have any of these.

I'm wondering if after today's test they would determine to go ahead and deliver her. I'm probably over analyzing this test as I'm not there.

At her 34 1/2 week appointment baby weighed approx 5lbs 8oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. It seems she was measuring a few weeks ahead of schedule.

I think I'm hoping they determine they need to deliver baby this weekend. lol.

I had tons of NST's with my twins and one this time because I couldn't feel him moving around one morning like usual.

My NST's looked at his heart rate, movements and if I had any contractions. Also, having been on these boards enough you start to see that some doctors do them routinely, even without any real issue going on. Kinda like betas, some docs do, some don't. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I know you want baby now, we are all feeling that way. But if baby is doing great on the inside, it's truly better to let her thrive than rush it. Even if baby is big, I don't see them agreeing to a c/s at 36/37 weeks just for size. That's way too early, IMO, and runs risk of problems for both doctor (legally) and baby (health).

I hope birth mon made it to the NST and that baby shows she's thriving and healthy.

I had NSTs done for small baby. They do them just to make sure that baby is still doing good in there and arent under any kind of stress. Some drs do them to err on the side of caution. Hope all turns out with her and LO.

She was hooked up for an hour and texted saying Rileigh was fine and healthy. She'll be measured again on Tuesday at her appointment.
