NT scan & blood results

I forgot to post US pic and results from our 12 week NT scan/combined screen last week. Essentially my risk is very low for both Down's (1 in 9,000) and Trisomy 18 (1 in 10,000) - counselor said that was less than a 20 year old's risk so that made me feel pretty good about my 31 year old egg. They did recommend we get an echocardiogram around 20 weeks because of the slight increased risk for heart defects in babies conceived through IVF, will probably do it at same time as our next anatomy US. We also got an 8 minute video from the scan...I'm surprised at how well the tech can point out all the parts from the feet to the tiny bladder. I am amazed at how developed the baby is at this point especially since we have a picture from when it was just a 5 day old embryo. Ah children, they grow up so fast Smile

Very interesting - I never heard of that, even after my IVF/FET baby.

Don't you LOVE having a picture of your LO as an embryo? I have the one of DS too and its so cool to see.

Yes, the heart risks from IVF in everything I've read are not very consistent across studies. But I think we will go ahead and do it because I do hope to have a natural birth at birthing center and if there are cardiac issues that may require a change in delivery location.

I love sharing my embryo picture with family, friends and co-workers because it is unique and to raise their awareness of IVF and infertility - that it doesn't just happen in the 40 & 50 year old age groups or with the crazy octomoms, as the media would lead them to think.
