Nursery Ideas :D

Just because I think DH and I are going to start working on the room that will become the nursery this weekend...what, if any, are your plans for your nurseries? Colors, themes, etc!

I am so excited to get to work on ours, I just thought I'd see if anyone else out there wanted to share! Wink

Oh and PICS if you have them!

We just finished painting the nursery yesterday!

This LO will room with us for a bit but he'll be sharing with DS#4 when he goes into his crib.

I just painted the room an awesome light gray color (it was DARK red!). We were going to stick with pirates but DH kept saying I could change if I wanted so I am pretty sure I will!

Last night, during my insomnia, I thought about libraries. DH had brought up old classics like Mr. Toad, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan...etc. I think I'll try to find prints of those old school books, fill a kid friendly bookcase by a reading/play table and then fill with family photos or other art (I an really liking distressed wood signs).

I want to make bedding and I'm thinking oranges, yellows, navy, gray/whites will really wake up the room. I'll be making matching curtains, too.

Lastly, I want to get some ornate or funky bookshelves for display items. The dresser has a hutch but I'm not sure I'll fill those.

We repainted the room when we were pregnant with DS2 to a neutral theme so we wont have to repaint again. I hate painting and don't see a point in repainting a room every couple years, seems like a waste to me, BUT that's me. We did a two tone, a little tan/cream on top and ceiling and then a lighter brown on the bottom half of the wall. As for decor, I have some vinyl (the ones you can move around with out damaging paint or the vinyl) blue and brown polka dots and DS2's name above the crib. No theme for the crib, we just use regular baby blankets and don't get the bedding sets. I'll probably do the same thing if we have a girl but pinks and purples instead of blue. I know they have pink and brown polka dot vinyl but I'm not sure if I want things that similar. I'm hoping to find something more girly.

Here's the nursery right after painting.

We had this bedding for DS and agreed to use it again this time since I intentionally did everything gender neutral to avoid redoing it one day.

I will say though, we never used the comforter that came with it so if I was to do it again, I wouldn't buy a bedding set - just the sheets and bumpers and use any blankets we had.

:lurk: Lurking from the Feb board... but I LOVE nurseries!
I painted a tree and found owl appliques and some other tree type things for Ronan's nursery, and since its right next to our room we'll add another crib in there and they'll share until Ronan is old enough to have an upstairs room (our room and nursery are on the main level)
Sorry the pics are so dark!
Here's the tree:

And behind the TV you can kind of see this wood carving art that looks like branches:

And on the left is a cool tree decoration I found:

For us, we are going to be taking a room that was previously painted a horrible fushia pink color, painting an off-white or cream color, and then either 1 or 2 accent walls that are a soft green. After we find out what gender we're having, we'll either accent with blue decorations or lavender.

Back when I got pregnant and had the blighted ovum in 2009, DH and I been so excited that we bought the furniture before we knew we were in trouble. It was so devastating when it showed up back then, but it's a blessing that we have it now because we are in a much harder place financially and couldn't afford it now. It's never been unpacked out of the shipping boxes and never assembled, but this is what it will look like:

We also bought this bedding set back then, I had fallen in love with it back when we had started TTC - dragonflies kind of became our symbol for trying to have a baby. Here's was the bedding set looks like, but this isn't my house, lol!

My dear sweet DH battled the storage building where all this stuff was packed in with a bunch of other junk in the billion degree heat to rescue it and bring it to the house yesterday. He's the best.

So yeah...can you tell I love green?? Biggrin

Amanda- love the dragonfly theme- very pretty/cute!

We have not done anything yet- we will be last minute! We have a small bedroom but is currently used as an office which DH works from home. So we either build another room downstairs for my ds and make his room the baby room or move DH downstairs.

we figure we have time lol which also does seem to be flying by very quickly.

So far we have the walls painted a soft green color, and we moved all the baby stuff in there. We really can't do anything more until we find out the gender. I am going to do accents of blue if its a boy, and purple if its a girl. I can't wait until we find out because I really want to start organizing the room.

Thanks! I actually ordered it from Overstock.com back in 2009, but it looks like it's out of stock for now. It looks like Babies R Us has it now. It also comes in Blue or Lavender. Just search for "green dragonfly dreams" or "blue dragonfly dreams" on Google or Amazon and you'll usually have something pop up. Wink

I love to look at everyone nursery ideas! Our new baby will room with us for a while and then be in the crib in our DS's room. We only have a two bedroom home so we are either going to have to sell in a couple of years or add on to the house.

I really love all the soft neutral tones in a lot of the nursery ideas.

It's exciting to read everyone's nursery plans. We have to wait until later this fall to do anything with our to-be nursery room because I have to clear out some stuff (it became the storage room when we bought the house 3 years ago) and then the cats need to live in there for a couple of weeks while our master bathroom is being remodeled...then we can start the painting and furniture shopping...I can't wait Biggrin I think we are going to do gender neutral colors so it can be used for any future siblings. My brother is an artist and I was thinking about asking him to do a mural or painting as a gift for the baby.

We painted the nursery last weekend. PINK!!! Smile The crib and dresser are from Nicholas. We have a big boy bed and dresser in his room now. I also got a cute butterfly and flower pink crib sheet (not pictured) and plan to put Emily's name on the wall behind the crib with some flower and butterfly vinyl stickers on the walls in random places. I also have a rocking chair in dark wood that will go in front of the window for the late night/early morning nursing sessions.
