I hear you. Can't wait to meet baby but also get rid of this heartburn and be able to sleep on my back again even if it means getting up every hour or so to breastfeed. This month is going to fly by before we know it Smile

Yeah I know. I have noticed a lot of our mommies straddle both boards. I think we will have quite a few December mommies. It's exciting to see who will be first Smile

There were a few who ended up with November babies! Time is flying by. There is a couple of us who have late due date in December and straddle both- who knows there could be a few ladies on January who could end up December.
My Dec 31 date turned into the c-section on the Dec 22nd-- which is only 18 days away!!

Sometimes it is hard to believe we are so close Smile I have a dr. appt on 12/12 and then the next weekly appointment will schedule my induction. The drs. have all told me they don't want me to go to 40 weeks due to my gestational diabetes. Due date is 12/30 so I will most likely have an after Christmas baby!!!! Smile

For a while there I wondered how many Dec mommies would be left in Dec - seemed like they were all having them in Nov.

I will be a Dec mom for sure, by Dec 27th at the latest. I am full term this weekend and praying to go early!

That is crazy! I'll be one of the last one's to give birth on here since my due date is the 31st. I'll be so jealous of everyone holding their babies while I'm still huge and pregnant!

Jill me and you can make a club because I'm sure I'll be one of the last too. My due date is the 30th. I have had a baby late and one 5 days early so I could go either way.

I understand this feeling completely....I'm watching Dec mommas go in Nov and everyone else over there have contractions and progress and I sit here at 36+ weeks just hoping I don't make it to my DD.

My edd is Jan 1st, but I am currently dilated to a 3 & am 50% effaced!! Last week I was told 75% effaced, but I was only 1.5 dilated so I'll take the 3 Smile

Yesterday we scheduled an induction for Dec 28 if I make it that far.

I want to go into labor naturally, BUT if I go into labor on the 30th or 31st I will be stuck paying a medical deductible for 2011 AND 2012. I just can't afford that.

Yikes Lesley! Hopefully you go before then!

This may sound silly but effacement can change all the time. You may have been 75% last week but have gotten less effaced as your body started dilating more. I have heard of cases were a woman was nearly full effaced but only a few cm dilated and her body clenched up and she didn't dilate further and she went from being almost completely effaced to only being about 50% effaced. It's interesting what the women's bodies will do.

Lesley I really hope you go into labor on your own as well! 3 cm is good! If you want to encourage the effacement you can get some EPO. Smile

Kridda,is it 36 or 37 weeks you can start taking the EPO orally? I plan on buying some either this week or next, just not sure when I can take it lol.

You can start taking it orally at 34 weeks and vaginally at 37 weeks. SO you could start it orally now if you want.

My ob told me no EPO vaginally. =/ Does it do anything if taken orally? What about raspberry leaf tea? do those really work?

Why no EPO vaginally? It wont harm anything. All it is is another natural form of prostaglandins, just like male sperm. Better and safer for you than the gels that dr's use on you. It is less likely to introduce bacteria inside you then the dr or even using yeast cream treatments. Sorry but for some reason your doctor saying not to use it vaginally annoys me. I would do it anyway. In fact I used it vaginally with #2 and never said anything to my OB about it because I knew she would be against it.

Orally it can help but it would work the best if inserted vaginally.

So what do you do? Poke a hole in a gel cap & put it up at bedtime?

I used the actual oil but those that I know that have used the capsules will either just stick the capsule up inside and let the body break it down or the poke a hole in it. I would probably poke a hole in it if it were me. Oh and I think they use 2 capsules.

Sorry if my last post came across rude and snotty. Sad When I get annoyed, especially if i'm already annoyed at something else, I can be very rude. I didn't mean to be rude. Sad

Don't worry about it Krista! Not a big deal, really. I think I'm going to go ahead & try it.

So I was just at the store & they had 1000mg capsules. Is that what I should be using? do you know the dosage?

I'm not sure at all on the capsules thing. I think that sounds about right though. With the straight oil I would use a 2 ml syringe filled up past the 2 ml mark. So probably more around 3 ml. Started that at 37 weeks, I was just past 20% effaced and by 39 weeks I was 80%+ effaced. I wish I could be more help with the capsules but I honestly just don't know the dosage on those. Sad

Oh and yes you will want to do it at night right as you are laying down for bed. Oh and make sure you have a liner in your under pants because the oil will leak out and it stains. We still have oil stains on our quilt from the oil spilling out of the bottle on it. Sad

So, I haven't really been following this thread but here's something I found about why a doctor may not advise using it:

In recent years evening primrose oil has been withdrawn as a licensed medicinal product. This is because there’s not enough evidence that it’s an effective medicine. There aren’t any proven safety issues with the product. However, the British National Formulary, which advises healthcare professionals about medicines, suggests evening primrose oil should be used with caution in pregnancy.

If you decide to take evening primrose oil, bear in mind that it can cause side-effects such as diarrhea, nausea and bloating. When buying it as a food supplement, remember that each product will contain different doses, as well as other ingredients. It’s also possible that if wrongly stored oil can turn rancid.

I think it's good to remember that everyone has their own opinion about it and it's effectiveness. Everyone should consult their doctor in case they experience some side effects but also so they can make educated decisions about what they do to their body. It's all personal preference.
