OH my.. Little Landon :)

Well we had a U/S yesterday to check my cervix and Landon’s size. I am happy to report that my cervix is at 3.7 which is still going strong. Even happier to report that my little guy is growing and growing Smile He has gained 3 more pounds and 2 oz in a month. According to the U/S he is now 6 pounds and 2 oz.

I am 32 weeks and 5 days and he is measuring 35 weeks and 5 days.. Some measurements were saying 37 weeks. (Like his head) I really don’t want to worry that there is a problem but wow he is a BIG lil man. The U/S doc and tech just told me that some babies are just big in general but that he most likely will be induced earlier or scheduled for an earlier C-section. My OB doc will go over everything with me soon so I will have more of an idea. We already have his c-section scheduled a week early. Looks like I may just end up having a Christmas baby however I think it would be better for him to come early part of Jan. I was told that we will most likely get another U/S to see how big he has gotten and go from there. Blum 3

Question: at this stage everything has been developed correct? They are now just gaining weight?

I'm glad Landon is looking healthy! As far as growth: I don't think he is fully developed yet at 32 weeks. Most of the major stuff is there but they are still working on a few organs. I think I remember the liver was mentioned in my 34week email. The lungs are last to mature and sometimes they aren't ready until 37-38 weeks along.

:lurk:

If it helps, by 34 weeks things should be mostly developed (esp. if his weight is up). I was told by my doctor, since I'm having two and they typically come early, that they are seeing more and more twins born at 34.5 weeks who don't even need much, if any, NICU.

So I would not worry too much. He seems like a healthy, healthy boy!

So glad he's looking so good!!!!!

Yep to what Angela said about the lungs. At Christmas you'll be about 34 or 35 weeks? I would decline any action that early, especially if everything looks good, he's just measuring big. U/S can be off by a pound or more at this stage. And lung development is so important in those last few weeks...obviously you know that.

I'm a c-section momma and I don't think I would agree to any dates prior to 38 weeks unless it were life threatening.

Thanks for the information Ladies Smile

I really do hope that he stays put until I am at least 37 weeks or more. I really do not mind that he is big or how I deliver him as long as the best course of action is taken Smile At least I have a OB doc and a High risk doctor so getting more then one option is important.

Christina: I will be 36 weeks on the 30th of this month Smile (getting closer and closer)

On our morning walk, I thought about this post and I should say I shouldnt have worded it as I did. You and your docs will make the right decision for that little man. And no matter when or how he comes, it will be perfect.

Having had one at 42 weeks, 2 at 38 weeks (my twins), and 1 at 38.5 weeks I know that those decisions can save lives, just as they did for my first 3. They should have never let me go to 42 weeks with my first, too many issues to discuss but those "you're having a baby today!" moments (which were all non planned c-sections) I know saved the lives of my first 3 sons.

So, I retract what I said about waiting...I don't know all your details, nor your doctors details. You trust your doctors and yourself, you will welcome that little man when it is the right time! Smile
