OUCH! (dental work)

I just got back from the dentist and I am more sore now than I was this morning with a cavity (or two). I called this morning to make an appt and they had an opening at 11 am - YAY for me, ouch for my teeth.

My BFF is the dental assistant so she saw I called and called me right back to tell me I can't come in until I am in the 2nd trimester. Um - friend - I am!

Anyway - not sure how I missed that one but I didn't know you couldn't go to the dentist in your 1st trimester. I had to call my OB and have them fax over a note of what my OB allows. I was looking over the list and he allows local anesthesia, x-rays if they use extra padding on the belly and Tylenol 3 or Vicodin for pain. Um - why didn't he give me one of those two for my migraines then?!

Anyhow - I really didn't have a real reason for my post - so feel free to ignore. LOL Just whining about my pain.

Boo! Tooth pain is the worst!!

I had an issue with a tooth when I was preggo with DS#4, only issue: they could find nothing wrong with the tooth. It would swell and cause pain but I had a root canal on that tooth and the roots all looked perfect. Every 8 weeks, like clockwork, it would swell. I took so many rounds of antibiotics.

After DS#4 was born, no issue. And, knock on wood it doesn't start again, though so far, so good.

He wasn't comfortable doing anything unless I asked my OB first. And they did 1 xray with about 3 of those pads.

I hope they can get you fixed up quick!

I hadn't been bothered at all with my teeth either until I got pg. Now my gums bleed when I brush and I have random pain. He commented a lot while working on me about how inflamed my gums are...I finally said "isn't that normal in pregnancy?" and he said yes. I have a few more cavities (bad teeth run in my family, ugh) and I am praying they stay like they are until after I deliver.

Yuck, tooth pain is the pits. I have a constant issue with a tooth that had a root canal and it seems like it's never going to get fixed.
