Saying hello

Hi, ladies! Hope you have room here for one more. I thought I would stop in and introduce myself.

My name is Katie. I am 31 and a SAHM. This pregnancy was a total surprise to DH and me. In fact, I had a negative test at a routine doctor's appointment about three weeks prior to my positive test at home, and had just assumed that was that! My cycle is pretty irregular anyway, so between that, the fact that we were not TTC, and that negative test result, I ignored my early symptoms and lack of AF for over a week before I finally figured out what was going on. By the time I realized I was pregnant, my nausea had kicked into full swing, and the last three weeks have been kind of rough. Yesterday and today have been a bit better, though, so hopefully I have turned the corner!

I have not had my first appointment yet, but I have my dates figured out pretty well, I think, and I figure that I am due around January 4th.

My other pregnancies were very planned, and we do not typically have an easy time conceiving, so this has been such a shock to us! We are already crammed in a house that is too small and we have a car with no room for another carseat so I guess it is time to get shopping!

Hi, Ashley! I think I might pop over to the December board and introduce myself at some point, too...I had gestational diabetes with both my other pregnancies, and was induced about a week early so there is a very good chance that this will end up being a December baby!

Oooh, let's talk gestational diabetes! I had it with my first pregnancy, and my doctor wants me to start following a GD-esque diet already. How about you?

Well, when I was pg with DD that was my plan...to follow a loose form of the diet from the beginning to see if that would help. But the same thing happened then that is happening now! Morning sickness makes everything sound/taste so darn gross! LOL! So I end up nibbling crackers or whatever other carb-y items all day long. Not exactly GD friendly! Hopefully once my MS goes away I will be able to get on track with that. Maybe we can encourage each other. Smile

Before I got pregnant this time around, I was in fairly good shape, jogging for 20 minutes every day. I have felt so horrid that I have not done that in probably three weeks, and now I'm not sure if it is okay for me to start up again. I have felt just a bit better these past two days so if that continues over the weekend maybe I will call my doctor to see if I can get the greenlight to start again. Maybe that would help? IDK.

I still do my running when I can & I try to go to the gym or do some lifting or cardio @ home (usually Jillian Michaels) if nothing else.

I don't think 3wks is too long to worry about not being able to go back to your routine. Your body should still be conditioned well & it usually snaps back quickly if you have been athletic.

I'm not dr so definitely ask, but I would think you would be able to do something small, if not completely go back to your old ways.

I hear you - there are times when I feel like I'd rather not eat at all than eat meat and veggies because I feel too gross. I want things made out of nice soft white flour. LOL We should definitely try to encourage each other and swap meal ideas. That is the other thing I hate - I get in such a rut because I know of like 5 things that are "safe" so that's what I fall back on.
