So who is NOT finding out the gender?

Who is not finding out the gender?

I don't want too, we have 2 girls and 2 boys and I would love to have a surprise this is going to be our tie breaker! But hubby wants to know so I said fine the dr can show you and you don't tell me. He can not tell anyone else and I am not sure if he can do that or not.

So he was trying to bribe me, he said that if I want to know he would pay for one of those early gender scans 3d/4d place at 16 weeks. He is so mean! Our ob office does 3d but only at 32 weeks. So not sure what to do

I personally wouldn't do a 3D 4D one until after 25 weeks. That's when it's the best to see baby with them. I tried one at 20 weeks with DS2 and the pics totally sucked!

We are finding out. Once we have a girl I would love to have surprise, if we have more after her, but DH refuses. He HAS TO KNOW. I think it would be awesome to have a surprise. Hmm... maybe I could talk to the U/S tech before the U/S when DH isn't around and tell them not to let anything slip because I don't want to know and they can just tell DH that they couldn't get a good shot. lol. Wink

Props to the ladies that can go without knowing. I am too nosey of a person not to know what my baby is lol. I would go insane.

We did not find out with our other two kids, but we haven't decided yet this time around. We were kind of thinking it might be fun to find out, just for something different since this is probably our last baby. But then I think "why?" because we have both girl and boy clothes in the right season and gender neutral everything else. LOL. And the surprise at birth is so fun I think! So IDK. If we do find out we will probably do something fun like the gender reveal party (not a huge party, just our parents and siblings) or something like that.

I think it would be so exciting to find out at birth! Just something we have yet to do! Plus if the 3d scan isn't worth it at 16 weeks why waste the money. I think if I can make it to 20 weeks without knowing whats another 20? I have a lot of unisex clothing items and the bigger items like the swing and travel system can be boy or girl so really we would just need to get clothing sometime after he/she is born!

And you will likely get some clothing as gifts when the baby is born anyway! It really is an awesome surprise at birth!!! Of course I've never done it the other way to compare...

I didn't want to find out but dh is adamant about wanting to know. So we are going to find out and do a gender reveal party.

Jenn, my DH is the same way about needing to know. Like I said earlier if I had one of each already I would try to think of some creative way to get around finding out with out DH knowing I said something. Smile Like talk to the U/S tech before hand and have them tell DH that we couldn't get a good enough shot to tell if it's a boy or girl. Wink

We'll be finding out. DH is actually making the appt on the 23rd!

I was and still am open but I know it's important for DH and for his bonding with baby. So I am going for it.

We are still deciding whether to find out or not. We found out with our first and since this may be our last part of me wants to experience what its like to hear 'It's a boy' or 'It's a girl' when the baby is born. I may leave it up to dh though and he won't decide until closer to the ultrasound.

I tried my best to convince dh for our previous baby to have a surprise--we had a boy and girl, clothes and everything for both. But he had to know! And it was good I guess...it decided what room we moved the other kids around to, since we have 3 bedrooms--one for us, one for boys one for girls Smile So when we found out he was a boy, I moved dd out of ds's room (they shared her first 2 years) and decorated my office girly and put the new one in with ds1.

This time, I think we will put baby in with dd no matter what, at least my dh says so. So it shouldn't matter for planning purposes. But he says it is not the same as a surprise gift at christmas (which he is very BIG on surprises)--it is planning for a new person in your family and if you have the means to find out...why the heck not! LOL

Well I guess I am kinda lucky in the fact that I would love a surprise baby and my DH feels the same way.

But WOW it is going to be very HARD not knowing.. In my mind it should be easy as I have clothes for both that I have collected for quite some time Smile But as times goes I just hope that we remain strong Smile

I called the 3d/4d place today that hubby was talking about and the the young lady said that they start their scans at 18 weeks that way you get what you pay for and get good pictures. She said some women wait till 24-26 weeks for the 3d/4d scan so they get really good picture of what their baby looks like. She said they do offer a 2d scan.

So waiting till 18 weeks to pay and do it again at 20 with the dr, I would rather not. I would rather not waste the money right now for the 3/d and wait till Nov to get it done. So I told hubby I don't want to find out. So he is going to find out at my level 2 u/s and as long as he doesn't tell me I don't care!

We are both jonesing to know, so no conflict here. I've really got to look into a 3D place, but if they also say 18 weeks, then there is no point, as I've got my anatomy scan at 19 wks.

We still can't think of a boy's name, so it would tell us if we have to get to work, or just stop worrying because we've already got the girl's name.

I'm surprised the 3d places offer scans at 18 weeks! The best time to get a 3d/4d U/S done is between 24 and 30 weeks. That way baby is big enough but not too big. My 20 weeks anatomy U/S with DS2 we tried the 3d and the baby was just too small and you couldn't see it very well with the placenta and uterus being in the way. The U/S tech I had is awesome as well! He's never had issues finding measurements or gender, he's that good.

Kridda - the 3d/4d places around here will just do a 2d anatomy scan around 15/16 weeks. The actual 3d/4d scans are usually for 24-28 weeks here too.

Same around here but they will do them earlier if a mommy insists. But they recommend doing them later.

People may be using the 3D term as a catch all for elective U/S places.

This. We don't care about 3D, just the sex.

WWWWWAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even with #6 it was just as exciting with #1. It will be hard.....you might want to give in, but don't do it. It is such an amazing moment!

There are not many REAL surprises in life...this is surely to be one.

We didn't find out with our previous two and we're not planning on finding out this time either. I LOVE having it announced at the birth. Makes the birth more exciting for me.

wow, I would REALLY love a surprise. But, I have no self-discipline & my bf says he feels he can start bonding w/ baby better if he knows. Maybe I will let him find out & make him not tell me. =/ Hmmm, idk if we can pull that. lol.

I always wait for my 3D til later so the baby is all chubbed up & looks like it will when it arrives.

:lurk:

We found out with both of our boys and I NEVER thought I could EVER be team green. DH teased me one day about 10 weeks into this pregnancy that he wasn't gonna let me find out the gender this time. And you know, the more I thought about it, the more I got excited about waiting the full pregnancy! I even had some friends (I think you were one of them, too, Ashly) that gave me a hard time about it.. but I found that that actually made me MORE excited!!! Lol

I was SCARED to go to my 20 week scan cause I was paranoid that I'd find out by accident... and the tech listened to my paranoia when I told her and she didn't look, so it's not on my chart and even my DR doesn't know the gender. And She's excited about it, too! I think it's the most awesome thing to look forward to!

Here I am, 31+ weeks and I still don't have any mother's intuition as to what it might be and I'm still excited about waiting for delivery to find out. I have goose pimples just thinking about it right now.

We'll find out at my 18 week scan as long as the baby cooperates. We need to plan the nursery and I want to know! I'll find out tomorrow how many people can be in the ultrasound room and hopefully my mom and DH's mom can be there for the gender announcement too (and help wrangle Nicholas).
