Todays Appointment

Went to my 38 week appointment today. My fluid is measuring good, Maya is still on the smaller side and I am measuring 37 weeks. Up until today I was always measuring right on track. NST was looking good as well. Did my cervical check and I am still closed and "rock hard" as he said. We went into his office after I got the gel off my belly to talk, we were in there for a good 20-25 minutes discussing everything. He told me that he wanted to schedule a c-section date after my due date and if I go into labor on my own then I do and if not then we will do the c-section, he does not want me to go much after my due date for safety reasons for Maya so I could have had it scheduled on the 10th or 13th, I def didnt want the 13th because it's Friday the 13th and just creeps me out and we both agreed we didnt want that date. I asked him in all honestly, from his experience, with my body doing nothing and me being so close to my due date what would my chances of actually going into labor on my own. He was honest and said that they were pretty slim, I should be doing something at the least. Maya is not engaged at all like I first thought. He said when he pushes on her head she just floats. He said if I was dilated that we could talk about an induction but with my body have not of done anything an induction would be out of the question because it would be too risky and the risk of uterine rupture would be greater. So, after a lot of discussing with ups and downs of everything we both agreed that I will just have a repeat c-section and Maya will more than likely be here on Tuesday. I have to call tomorrow and confirm. I knew this was a possibility because I did not dilate with my son and even with cervidal and pitocin I still was barely at a 2 after 15 hours. I have a p.i.t.a cervix that I call my cervix of steel lol. I am a bit bummed about no vbac but I am ok with another cesarian. He does not use staples anymore and that really excites me! The staples last time were what made me hurt and other than those I did excellent. I am very excited that she will be here Tuesday! The next 6 days are going to drag by! My sister is going to take a small vacation next week to help me out with getting Z to and from school and my step kids should be here to so it all works out and i'm excited. I asked him how long a repeat takes since Z was an emercency and I was in and out within 20 mins and he said it only takes him 40 mins to do the whole procedure Smile I am a little bummed because my mom goes back to work that day and I know she is upset about it, I can tell by the look on her face when I was talking about it but by the time I get in and get ready and they do the procedure and I recover and they get Maya ready she will be getting off work within a couple hours. She would only be able to wait around anyways since only DH is able to be in the OR with me. I really wish she could be there when I am done but I completely understand and if she can work it out that would be awesome for her to be there and if not then she will just come a couple hours later.

I know this was all over the place but I was trying to remember everything lol. Hope it all made sense.

Yay for a date! 6 days!!! It's going to go FAST!! Sorry your body isn't doing what you want it to do. But at least your step kids will be there and you all can enjoy the new baby!

I think Friday the 13th is a GREAT birthday Smile I don't believe in the creepy stuff like that!

Yeah I thought it would be neat but it still creeps me out haha plus I'm impatient and since I'm doing the repeat I couldn't pass up the 3rd lmao. I'll be 39w 1d when she's born.

I'm having my c/s on 1/3! 5:30 in the morning, no less.

I can completely understand going with the repeat, but if you truly wanted to VBAc and your doc is on your side, then I think waiting could be good too. It's a hard decision, I know. I have a Fort Knox Cervix, too. After 48 hours, never got to 2cm. They say if you never got above 3, subsequent births are truly considered firsts for your cervix so it doesn't surprise me that yours is still not dialated at the point. I also read that stalling like that often only gives you a 60% chance of successful VBAC. But again, if it's truly important to you, you should try it.

Either way, she's looking good and healthy and I am thrilled to hear that!!

Oh wow do they really do them at 5:30am? Lol he told me not to eat anything past midnight on Monday night so I'm assuming I will have an early time too. He is for whichever decision I make so this was my choice. He doesn't want me going past my due date it would have been scheduled for the 10th and I honestly feel like my body just won't do it and due date would come and go and I would have one anyways so I figure I'll go with the 3rd. Either way she will be born and be healthy so I'm ok with my choice. If by some miracle I to into labor before Tuesday I can have her vagunally but if not then I'll have her section Smile

I came to my VBAC vs repeat with DS#4 the same way. Sometimes you just know.

I'm glad to hear your doc doesn't use staples. Bleck! My first was with staples, never again! My second with dissolvable stiches, those were fine. My last was with the glue and steri strips...LOVE!!!!! And this time will be the same. We'll have babies who share a birthday!

Oh, I should clarify...I have to be there at 5:30, surgery will start promptly at 7:30. Smile

Yay bday buddies! lol. That was one of the main things I asked him about because I told him I will NOT have staples again, that is the main thing that scared me away from a repeat because those hurt more than anything plus the ones on the end my skin wound up growing over and they hurt like heck coming out! I am very happy to know he uses sutures now so if its anything like my son I will recover great and be out of the hospital within 2 days of having it done. I will know for sure tomorrow morning about times and everything. He said the 3rd isnt etched in stone just yet but to pretty much count on it and call tomorrow and I will have all the info I need so I will make sure to update then. Hopefully he can just have me come in at 8 and I have my section around 10 and be done about 1040-11 and my mom can take a half day and be up there when I come out of surgery. You can def tell im a mommys girl Smile lol

Staples? Really? How barbaric. I apparently have the dissolvable stitches, and now I wish I had the glue and tape! Though that reminds me of pre-school...

It sounds like a tough decision, Lisa, but I suspect your body will make it for you. That little one is obviously in love with your uterus. Congrats on having a date, though! I would have passed on the 13th as well, and I'm not even superstitious. Why risk it?

Yeah staples were rough, I did not like them but it was 4 years ago and I guess he has moved up in the world lol. I am very happy with sutures though. My best friend had sutures with her first and then the glue and tape with her twins and she said they were both fine. I think she is in love with my uterus as well, my son was also lol. I guess I just make it too comfy in there for them Wink

Sorry things didn't quite turn out as you had hoped, but how exciting to have a date. Looks like Tuesday is going to be an exciting day with 2 little Snowflakes making their grand entrance. Biggrin
