Water issues? (XP)

Is anyone else having a hard time drinking water? It seems like it sits in my stomach wrong and gives me indigestion. I feel like I am dehydrated because I avoid drinking while at work.

I have tried the flavor packets and that gets me to drink maybe 2 16 oz bottles of water but I can't drink more. I used to be able to drink 64 oz while at work and then more at home. Now I am struggling to get in my 2 bottles for the whole day. Soda is working...but isn't very good for you compared to water. So I have been drinking diet sprite and my 1 diet dr. pepper per day. I drink 1 glass juice but I don't want to drink much more for fear of gaining weight in a bad way Sad

Sorry, not here. I am addicted to water! I probably drink at least 16-20 8oz glasses a day.

Soda can actually be dehydrating so be careful of that. If the bubbles do something for, maybe try flavored bubble waters? Those are good sometimes. I know there are a lot of brands.

What about powerade or gatorade, my o/b said that is good if you are feeling a little dehydrated. Plus the low cal ones are good.

I'm having a really hard time drinking anything at all. That's part of the reason I got the kidney infection a few weeks ago. Water seems to make me nauseous but I know I need to drink it. Like a pp said, soda can actually cause you to dehydrated so I would steer away from the soda. The soda water should be fine though because all it is is carbonated water. I imagine it's the bubbles that sooth your tummy. I also have a hospital mug that I make sure to drink 2 of those a day, at least. I find that I drink more if I drink out of that because I can sip on it all day with out drinking too much at a time and making matters worse. Gatorade can be good too but too much of that is bad as well. You don't want to many electrolytes in your body either because that can be as harmful if not more so than being dehydrated from lack of water. Maybe mix it up though. I would switch back and forth between gatorade and water. 32oz of water to 20oz of gatorade sort of thing.

I'm having a hard time with water which is strange for me because a few weeks ago I was drinking a ton. I'm doing chocolate milk and fruit juice cut with a little sprite or water several times a day to try to keep hydrated enough.

I still try to sip water throughout the day as much as I can...but I just can't gulp it down like usual.

I remember reading somewhere that the Crystal Lite packets and the generic equivalents aren't good for you because of the fake sugar in them. Maybe you can drink fruit juice instead of water? I'm a sucker for grape juice - it tastes so good, but it wrecks your bottom if you drink too much. TMI alert here - I didn't know it was possible to poop blue if you weren't drinking Kool-Aid until I drank 4 glasses of grape juice in one day.

I find at night I am having a hard time drinking anything. After 4pm. I do try to drink a lot at work but one thing that works in the evening for me is a little bit of juice diluted with lots of water. Probably 1 part juice to 3-4 parts water. The flavor helps it go down and the calories are low. Lemonade has been my juice of choice (isn't citrus supposed to help with nausea?).

Ditto!

I have not been able to drink water hardly at all, which is totally odd for me because usually water (and milk with dinner) is all I drink all day long! I just cannot stand the thought of it this pregnancy! I was drinking gatorade and powerade for a while, but honestly I was having trouble getting much of anything down and got pretty dehydrated. I for some reason thought that chocolate milk sounded good one day when I was making it for the kids and once I drank a glass that is pretty much all I drank for like two weeks. LOL. Lately I have been able to get a small juice-sized glass of water down once in a while, and I have had some lemonade this week as well. I do feel like it is getting better, so hopefully it's just a first trimester thing!

I'm having the same problem, and I'm trying to avoid gatorade because of the sugar, so I've resorted to mint tea. I have cup after cup during the day. Perhaps not the easiest thing to make while at work, but that's been my solution so far...

I've never looked for those...I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

Thanks for the gatorade idea. December BB also suggested that too!

See juice is good but I don't want all of the sugar- even though it is "natural". I know some people choose to avoid aspartame and sucrolose (splenda) during pregnancy but after reading articles on the findings it seems like you would have to consume pounds of it per day to have a negative effect.

ooooh! I might try diluting the juice and see what happens. The flavor packets that I have been using are lemonade. They are yummy for a while but then it is just too much for me.

I hope it is just a first tri thing. Good luck to you too. I still drink 2 glasses of milk/day...that doesn't bother me now. Someone also suggested chocolate milk. I just can't drink 64 oz of chocolate milk/day I would be a cow for sure lol!

I'm glad the mint tea is working for you. I'm not a tea fan but thanks for the suggestion.

I know a lot of people who dilute gatorade just for regular use, so if you are going to try that and sugar is a concern you may want to mix it with a little water. Hope you can find something that gets you through!

No I have the opposite problem. Once I start my water consumption for the day (usually after my 1 cup of coffee) I can't stop drinking it, and I crave it. I'm using the restroom constantly these days. Just keep trying. It's all you can do. (((HUGS)))

Water makes me throw up! The only thing I can drink is Unsweet Tea and Ginger Ale.
