weekly OB appointment today

OB appointment today Smile Everything went well and the c-section date remained the same Smile We went over precautions in regards to labor signs and what I need to tell the hospital etc. I was at a different doctor?s office hence a different weight scale but you wouldn?t believe my weight gain since last week. Usually it has been a pound a week for over a month or so BUT today it showed 6 lbs.. WHAT the heck Sad So crazy.. well I did have my 5 lbs shoes on today ..lol
Good news is that when she checked me I am now 1 cm dilated.. which the OB says is normal. I will be 37 weeks tomorrow so I didn?t know you dilate that early. Since this is technically my second pregnancy she said things may work a bit faster.. so we will see Smile I believe that she was referring to when I start my labor pains.

Anyone else dilate this early?

I also have the stupidest question to ask. She said she could put her figure u know where and touch his head.. Does that mean I have no mucus plug?

I am just so happy that my body is finally doing what it should.. I guess I still may have 2 more weeks though Sad I am so ready to meet my little man .. OH and to be rid of horrible HEARTBURN.. yuck

I was dilated 1cm at 37weeks with my last pregnancy. I had my membranes swept at 39 weeks because I hadn't dilated any more by then. You'll know when you lose your mucus plug. It is thick and nasty looking.

That's a good sign your body is starting to work on it's own but where you haven't actually been through full labor once already your body will probably still take a little longer, though I doubt it will be like a first time mom who's body hasn't had any experience at all. You probably haven't lost your mucus plug yet. She is probably just feeling the baby's head through the cervix tissues. If the baby is low enough you can actually feel the head through the tissues. I can feel L's head as well. Smile She isn't touching direct head just the head through cervix tissue. Smile

Oh I see.. I was wondering lol She just said that my body may react quicker since I went through labor delivery even though a little baby. My cervix has always been kind of soft so may that may change things. I don't mind waiting until the 20th but wow he is a big boy already Smile I am getting so excited and I can not wait to hold him.

I was 4 cm dilated at 36 wk 2 day at my first cervical check when I was admitted emergently to the hospital. I had been losing small pieces of mucus plug the previous couple of weeks but never had a giant plug come out or bloody show. I've heard some people can stay only at one or two cm dilated over a couple of weeks with little change or continue to dilate progressively over time. Unfortunately one of those things that can vary greatly across people and between pregnancies.
