Weird app today

The doctor said I have a sub-chronic hematoma.. has anyone had experience with this? They talked to me about my passed pregnancy with the preeclampsia and the doctor and I decided that c-section is the best way to go with all of my pregnancy issues. Scary! Also he couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler so I was freaking out, but he rolled in the sonogram machine I got to see the little baby doing summersaults!

I've never had to deal with a SCH but I know many who have. A lot of time it heals itself and just goes away. Hopefully this happens for you. A gf of mine spotted/bled into her 2nd tri before it healed. Scary to say the least, but she's due with baby girl #2 in 8 days.

Glad they had a sono machine to see baby!

I had a SCH with DD. I assume they found yours in the ultrasound? With DD, I started bleeding heavily at about 8 weeks, and freaked out. Rushed off the the ER, where they found the SCH. I continued to bleed until about 16 weeks, and was put on pelvis rest. Mine was quite large, hence the bleeding. I was looking back at my ultrasound from DD's pregnancy, and at 8 weeks, it was bigger than the size of the baby! If yours hasn't bled, I'd imagine it wouldn't. The bleeding from them seems to happen more in the first trimester.

SCH are actually quite common, and most people would never know they had them, since they don't all result in bleeding. They are typically reabsorbed by about 20 weeks. This was the case with me. For the vast, vast majority of people, they cause no problems. Worst case, for the very very largest ones (some are HUGE!), they can cause miscarriage, preterm labor, poor fetal growth, placental abruption. (Keep in mind these things are not common with them....just than they 'could' happen.) The OB with my midwives told me all of this and I freaked. On the other hand, my midwife told me that she'd never seen it be a problem. All in all, I think it sounds scarier than it is. I know it worried me to death. Sorry you have to deal with this stress -- I know it all too well!

I suspect that I had one when I had that really scary bleed at 12 weeks. But I also suspect that it bled out during that bleed--I passed a massive clot and nothing showed up on my NT scan.

Because of it, though, I did a lot of reading, and from what I've learned, and as a PP said, if your OB's not worried, then I wouldn't worry. They're really common and rarely does anything bad happen. Just don't lift anything heavy, and a nurse from another board said to drink lots and lots of fluid to keep your uterus from contracting because of dehydration. But also to empty your bladder a lot--something about a heavy bladder putting strain on the uterus? Whatever--we're pregnant! Peeing is what we do best!

Were you put on any type of rest--pelvic or bed? I understand that docs are split on this; some say it promotes healing, others say it makes no difference...

No type of bedrest at this time.. just said to take it easy, not to lift anything heavy and most of the same old stuff.. I've also had this nasty flu for almost 2 weeks so he's concerned with me getting pnemonia, and then with my previos pretty severe preeclampsia he is worried about my overall pregnancy will go back soon and determine if bedrest will be what he wants, I was on bedrest with my last pregnancy from about 30 weeks, so I do kind of expect it again
