What do you think about due date changes

So I was wondering, my ob did the u/s and she says my due date based on measurements is Jan 17th and the due date by my last period is Jan 21st. She says we can use either one but she wrote down the 17th in the chart. It's in the same week so its not to be worried about and I will be induced anyways but I am not sure. I mean babies can measure big or little anytime during the pregnancy but I also know that early dating u/s are the most reliable.

So what do you think?

anyone have their due date change?

With last my pregnancy I did IVF. I knew the exact date of conception and the day I had my transfer, so I was like 100% sure of my due date - 11/7. However, my OB put me at 11/22  Then another time he said it was 11/10 (which is what it had changed to after my 1st u/s at 6w5d). I always stuck with 11/10 in my mind because it was closer to my original due date and it corresponded with my 1st u/s measurements.

I definitely feel like its silly to change the due date after your 1st ultrasound (under normal circumstances of course). The baby will come when he/she wants. However, if you will be induced you don't want to be induced too early or too late.

The same thing happened to me w/ this one. Mine too are still w/in the same week.

My edd based on my LMP is Jan 2. My edd based on an u/s given at about 6wks says Jan. 6.

My ob left my edd at Jan 2 b/c they both fall w/in the same week & just like any estimate there is a +/- of a few days.

I am going to get the nt scan done so they will re measure but I need to contact my insurance company and tell them and I just don't know what day to use! Smile

I am going to have the scan as well. I just figure this kid is coming when this kid is coming & it really doesn't matter what day we, or the drs, have circled on the calendar. lol

I know what my true due date should be in my head because I charted. Last time they were early...June 29th instead of July 3rd. This time they are 1 day behind December 30 instead of Dec 29th. I tell everyone based on what my dr. says but I know in my head when it should really happen.

If it's within the same week it wouldn't bug me much. Like previous ladies said, the baby will come when it wants to lol unless there is a c/s or induction. Ds's date stayed the same. This one I will know tomorrow if I'm still a Jan mommy or if I will be moving to December.

I think you should just tell them the doctor date but know in your head it could be off a few days. I was right on with DS#4 at our dating u/s and then the NT I was about 5 days ahead. It's all a toss up really. But I can understand the dilemma.

I always use the first date I'm given because at most at 20 week u/s baby is measuring off by a few days. Usually a few days behind. I don't really do much with the dates any more because all they are is a close guess. DS1 was born at 41 weeks and was clearly post dates due to placenta calcification and DS2 was born at 39 weeks 2 days, by my gut feeling on when I was positive I O'd, though I wasn't charting, he was born at 40 weeks exact. Honestly I wish more people would start using the term "guess date" rather than "due date" or even "estimated due date" far to many parents and doctors panic when they pass their "due date". When, unless you know when you O'd, it can be up to a week off. Usually in the direction that you aren't as far along as you thought you were.

I've heard of some Dr. giving multiple due dates and changing all the time and the patient doesn't know which one is the one the Dr. is using. Beee

Thankfully I've never had a Dr. like that because I would have dropped that Dr. I think it's bad practice personally and we all know which date is the most correct (early ultrasound or if your charting etc etc). I also think Dr. need to listen to their patients more, and those that don't may have a control problem... I said *may* I'm not sterotyping all Dr.'s Wink

This is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to maternity care.

i would def. go with what the early u/s said. with my 1st we didn't have an early u/s and at 20wks baby was measuring a whole week behind so we moved the dd back which was prob. more accurate. he came induced at 35wks on only weighed 4lb5oz so had we stuck with the original edd he would have been a 4lb 36wker which is pretty small...either way since it's just a few days i wouldn't worry too much Smile

I thought I was 8 weeks 2 days according to LMP, but my ultrasound today measures me at 6 weeks 2 days. So my EDD went from 1/18 to 1/31. I just don't know which one to believe it is! Annoying.

Honestly, I try not to even think about the "due date" - it's just an estimation. I know what it is for my ticker and I know what my midwife said based on my last period, and they match up. If they change when I have my first ultrasound, whatever. No one IRL knows my "due date" except Mr. Berry - I've just been telling everyone "Beginning of January" so that I don't have a kajillion FB notices on my wall "OMG are you still pregnant?" "Have you had the baby yet?"

Anyone who asks that on the internet gets linked to this site. Anyone IRL who asks gets smacked.

With DS I hung onto that date like it was set in stone. I was so depressed when it came and went without a baby. So this time I am more like "eh, sometime between Dec 11 - Jan 14".

I have not told anyone irl when I am due I just say first 2 weeks of Jan. But I really don't want that many people to know most people are still trying to come to grips with me having #5 so the less info the better no one will hassle me about crap! I'm just going to stick with my lmp due date I mean its in the same week, plus I know I am getting induced so I won't make it to my due date. My insurance company likes to know so that way they are prepared to add the baby right away so there is no out of pocket expense.

Yeah, with my first I was really perturbed when they pushed my DD back 2 weeks (and I still think they were wrong) but this time I am not as concerned about it. I figure that it's all just a guess anyway - the baby will come when the baby feels good and ready.
