I'm not sure what they're predicting for this winter. We had a very mild winter last year, so I wouldn't mind another one, but it really screwed with rain this summer to. We're in the middle of a drought where I live and a lot of crops have been trashed.
I went to Target and created a registry today. There isn't a whole lot we need, but if we created a registry we got a free $20 gift card which I plan on using for either bottles or a new boppy. A coworker at my part-time job insisted today that they are going to throw me a baby shower. I told her that was awfully sweet but it wasn't necessary and she insisted they were going to do it anyway. I won't hold my breath, but I did think it was an awfully sweet gesture!
This is a little random, but are we planning on doing a gift exchange on this board? I know I've done them on previous boards, and was wondering what everyone was thinking of doing.
I don't know what they are predicting yet either, but we are having the first freeze of the season tonight (3 weeks before normal). Not a good sign. At least we have our babies to keep us warm, but with twins I know I am not buying a new jacket.
I am happy to do a gift exchange if others are up for it.
I've got a headache tonight. Hopefully sleep will help it. I have had to take benadryl a few nights this pregnancy for a variety of reasons, and I am thinking tonight may be another night for it. I hate taking medicine, but I need my rest and I don't want to really take anything else...
In an unrelated note, tonic water and grapefruit juice makes a great mocktail if you like gin & tonics like I do.
Yes I love gift exchanges! We did that on my other BB for baby's birth, first bday and christmas. Count me in!
AFM I ended up back in L&D yesterday with more bleeding. Ugh. I was at work when it happened, so now I am off work until further notice (without pay as I have no sick time left) and I'm on bedrest at home for now. I am waiting to hear from the maternal/fetal specialist on monday to go have an ultrasound and see what the heck is going on! My OB said that depending on what the u/s shows, I may have to be put on bedrest as an inpatient in the hospital. I'm just praying that doesn't happen!
Holly - How sweet that your coworker mentioned a baby shower. I hope they come through for you, it'd be awfully nice. I love getting baby/kids stuff at Target.
TIffany - I too have needed to take benadryl on occasion to help me sleep. They suggested it to help with my ICP symptoms (itching) but it never has helped with that. I hope the rest helps you feel better!
Amanda - That's so scary! Bed rest is tough enough as it is, let alone in the hospital. While it's one of those things that's best in the long run, it's stressful when you have to take unpaid leave from work. I hope the MFMS gives you good news with the u/s.
AFM - I went to a baby shower for my old roommate/cousin-in-law today who's due in the beginning of November with their first. It was fun to get out. I rarely go out alone just because DH works such long days we're always trying to do errands and spend time together on the weekends. My OB called today when I was at the shower to say my bile levels are at 19. The test they run says 24 is the peak for normal (I've read 10 but there are two ways to do it so I'm assuming this is the non fasting type). He told DH to just have me keep taking the meds and we'll go the same course we're on. I love that he called so quickly as I only had the blood work done Monday. I think it worries DH though. I've had a lot more physical pain in this pregnancy so that worries him and DD has been having extreme separation anxiety with me so we're trying to work on that. I finally got a new phone on Friday I am so thrilled!
Amanda- I hope you don't become a hospital patient! Although on bad days I daydream about my midwife telling me I have to be one (I don't have a good reason, lol) because I would have meals catered to me, no cleaning, no 2 year old dumping his toy basket over 30 minutes after we've cleaned it, no homework to help with. . then I feel terrible about even thinking about it.
Holly- How do you get a $20 gift card to Target for a registry??
Mia- What kind of phone did you get?
Tiffany- I always jacked Jason's jackets in the winter when I was pregnant with Brandon. They were big enough to zip up over my belly and soooo warm. I'm sure I looked like a homeless person half the time I left my house, lol.
AFM, I'm so tired of stomach issues! It's like everything I eat/drink goes right through me and quite painfully (TMI, I know). I do feel better since started iron pills but not quite understanding how I'm dealing with bathroom trouble while on a higher doses of an iron supplement. . .
I made French toast for the first time ever yesterday. It came out awesome. I've been craving cinnamon and salsa lately.
Taylor - I got an iPhone 4s. I'm a big mac person so I've wanted one since they came out, but AT&T doesn't have service anywhere up by me, so I was waiting for them to switch to Verizon. Impatient me upgraded a few months before they went to Verizon and got stuck with an awful android phone (the phone was bad not android). I didn't get the iPhone 5 because as nice as the upgrades are, I didn't feel they were worth the extra $100.
Holly - That's awesome about the coupon, and I love the gift exchange idea.
I took DD to a local bouncy house place yesterday. Not realizing until the end you're not supposed to go in pregnant, I did. I just bounced a couple times ( standing and sat down not bouncing on my bottom or anything) and went down some slides with DD. I called my OB/MW office just to see what they said and the on call OB wanted me to get checked and have an NST because I said I was having (painless, patternless, every day type) BH contractions. Because they decided this at 5 pm I had to go to l&d but thankfully little man showed off and moved like crazy and had great accelerations and I of course had no real contractions. I've been told to do kick counts and get another NST today at the office and that I just have to be "self aware" for the rest of today because they worry about capillaries and possible placenta detachment the same way they do with a car accident. And to think I just wanted to get DD out of the house! Better safe then sorry.
Holly--how nice of your coworkers to suggest a shower! And awesome that you got a free gift card!
Taylor--new phones are always fun...and french toast is one of my favorites!
Mia--Hope all is well with you and baby!
AFM, I've really been struggling since school started back up. My 2 DDs at home with me have been terrible! It doesn't help that I feel like we are running constantly and have little play time, but they are mean to each other and have been crying and whining like crazy! I've GOT to get this figured out!
We went to town today--we needed out of the house and had some errands to run. I picked up some fabric to make either a blanket or a carseat cover for Alivia. I just can't decide which one I want to make.
Mia - earlier in my pregnancy I went down a water slide with Luke. I knew I was pregnant, but it looked like the tiniest most innocuous water slide for toddlers on the planet. Well, I was surprised by the force of the water that hit me when we hit bottom. Made me realize - probably not a good idea. Oh, and I went jet-skiing early on in my first pregnancy. Women used to horseback ride pregnant... I am sure it increases risk, but I think people freak out too much to enjoy life too. I am sorry that doing so has had some repercussions as far you as far as workup.
I had a slightly stressful day at work and my sisters kids are staying with us... its not exactly a stress-less environment when I get home. I have been having lots of BH today. Luckily, I think I might be able to get away with lying down for a nap.
