Soo... my OB was running more than an hour behind, and I had a new patient with cancer coming in... so I didn't want to be running behind so I skipped it. In his defense, he was in surgery. The contractions have slowed way down and I am redoubling my efforts to take it easy at home. I have an appointment coming up in 1.5 weeks and I have all afternoon that day, in case he is running behind.
If I thought I was putting them at risk, I wouldn't have cancelled it. Also, I am slightly annoyed at the doc when I was actually at the hospital for not checking a FFN and cervical u/s.
My old ob used to do the gestational DM test earlier- around 24 weeks, so I was surprised that mine does it later. So, I wouldn't be too annoyed to get that stupid test over with.
Taylor, that seems like an awful lot of weight to gain in a month...and if you're measuring alright,it definately sounds like something is off! Sorry to hear that you weren't treated very well at your appointment today! It's frustrating when you don't get to see your doctor, but then to be made to feel that way is insulting and hurtful. Keep us posted on the GD test!
Tiffany, sorry that you didn't get to see your OB either! Sounds like all of our doctors are super busy lately!!
AFM, I have a random question about FB. I'm hoping someone here can help me. I updated my status on Monday, and since then I haven't been able to. I'll hit "post," and it does nothing....but I can respond to other people's posts. I'm not sure how to fix it. Any suggestions? I don't have internet on my phone, so I can only use FB on my computer and I'm super frustrated that it doesn't work. Thanks in advance!
I can't think of why it would do that.
And 2 lbs every week might be par for the course for me right now, so I know it is possible.
If anything I feel less fat than I did earlier in this pregnancy though. Maybe it is because my belly is catching up with the rest of me. I am sure their scales are off.
Holly, log out and restart your computer. Then try to go back. When I leave my computer on 24/7 (we usually do) and I forget to restart it every now and then, it affects little things like that. OR try going to your actual page, not your newsfeed, and try posting from there. Sometimes that works.
With the way my luck is going, I'll find out I have GD like two days before Halloween.
Can anyone recommend a kid tablet for my DS? I'd like to get him one for Christmas but I don't know what kind to get. LeapPad? Mobigo? Innotab? I posted this on BBC and every response was, "Ohh buy him an iPad, you get so much more." Uh, NO. My TWO YEAR OLD is not getting an iPad when we use a desktop and dumbphones ourselves.
I agree Holly that you may need to just refresh your browser or restart your computer just to sort of smack it in the head.
Taylor - DD has a LeapFrog laptop and a LeapFrog Ereader thing she loves. She calls the ereader her iPad. It has stories you can preload but she hasn't quite figured out just listen to it and just plays with it. I think the LeapFrog and Innotab ones have been most popular among my little cousins that are in the toddler/preschool range. I'd look at reviews on Amazon or Babies R Us to get a good picture of how they work for different ages.
We had a blast at the wedding we attended yesterday. It was a long drive home but it was nice to have a break from DD (though I was SO excited to see her today). She was pretty good for my in-laws thankfully. I felt bad she never took a nap for them (we left her at 11 am and picked her up around 10 today) and she got up once in the night, but she usually does that when we're not at home.
Emma and I found some of those carve-able foam pumpkins, some halloween/fall decorations and a few tiny Christmas/Holiday items we can use for gift baskets I'm making for the aunts and uncles on DH's side. I've never used the foam pumpkins but they had stickers so I got that for DD she's going to love it! We have a play date coming up this week for actual pumpkin painting so I figure this way my house/deck stays clean.
Mia, I can't wait for the pumpkin patch to open! Brandon has been OBSESSED with pumpkins lately. Where did you find foam ones? I'm not very creative at all but Jason is super artistic (he's about to start a tattoo artist apprenticeship) and he's going to carve one for him. Ali could really care less.
All she wants for Christmas is a damn iPad. I don't know how to make them understand it isn't going to happen. I might find her a used iTouch though.
I'm kinda sad today. I read the local paper online and we're such a small town, if you even get pulled over your name, age, and street are listed in the article. Someone that was in the hospital with me for drug detox (pysch and detox were together) was listed in an article for being caught injecting someone with Dilaudid in a parking lot He was such a nice guy and he really seemed like he'd make it without relapsing.
Also, Jason is talking about possibly moving to Nashville next year. I hope he isn't just talking out loud. I would LOVE to be in a bigger place. I like moving though too. I'm nomadic at heart, I love new places and moving around. I don't really have alot of people here I hang out with so I'm not really leaving anyone behind. Jason's family, yes but Nashville is only an hour away.
Lisa, I hope you catch up!!! Season two starts tonight! It gets kinda slow midway through but push through because it ALL becomes relevant and the finale is just awesome. It's on ABC at 7 pm (I'm in central time).
Some of my shows I gave up on. Bones and Law and Order SVU for instance. Bones has run its course and they need to end it this season so it stays good in everyone's memory. SVU is just. . .SVU, I guess. I've got too many years emotionally invested in Grey's Anatomy to stop watching that. I hate that everyone's moaning about "ohh they kill everyone off! It's so dramatic! What's wrong with them?" Uh, it's a medical DRAMA soap opera. . .of course everyone's going to leave eventually and be replaced and why not make it dramatic? You're still watching it, aren't you? Shonda Rimes must be doing something right then.
But Once Upon a Time is what I've been waiting for. This season, they're bringing in Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Prince Philip, Mulan, Captain Hook/Peter Pan, and the Little Mermaid. Just remember it's owned by Disney Co. which is why most of the costumes are recognizable. And Aurora (on tonight's episode) is played by Sarah Bolger, who was Mary Tudor in the Tudors series.
There are so many good shows to get into these days! Without DVR, we are hopeless. We haven't been current on a season since we were pregnant with DD. I watched the first episode of Grimm on Hulu and liked it but just never made time for it. I really want to watch Walking Dead (they have a marathon of the first two seasons just before the third premiers on Oct. 14th, and one of my old friends has a spare copy of Season 1 that I want to borrow. I'm not huge on zombies per say, but from what I've heard it's more based on the human side then it is a throw back to classic zombies.
Anyone else feeling like they are getting low on energy? I went grocery shopping this morning and DD is napping. The kitchen is a mess and I just can't bring myself to get anything more then laundry and loading/unloading the dishwasher done. We've had an eventful weekend, but I'm struggling to keep my energy up all the time.
