Tasha- that is EXACTLY why this little girl is NOT named after any moms or sisters. While neither mom would have said something, the sisters (3 in total) would have because they are petty, catty, and nitpicky. . well two of them are. They'll get over it.
Mia- I'm 1/2 Italian, 1/2 Cherokee. I don't look like either one. I have dark red hair that I try desperately to cover with dark brown dye (it turns red within 2-3 weeks) and green-gold eye color (Cherokee eye change color). And I'm light skinned, though I tan extremely easily. My brothers and sisters all have dark hair, eyes, and darker skin. I look just my aunt but with different colors. My mother is blonde and blue eyed and she's the only one like that in her family too. It's so weird.
My kids are blonde as well. . .although Ali has gray eyes and Brandon has deep, deep brown like Jason. I just want ONE freakin baby that looks like me!
Tasha, I'd leave it alone. DH and you made a decision and your family needs to respect that decision. I know my mom was really upset when we announced the name of our first daughter, but it was purly because she didn't like a nickname associated with it. You'll find that friends and family will share their opinion with you and try to make you feel bad or guilty about your decisions. Stand stong and don't let them make you feel bad!!
Mia, we had a great time watching the game. The other lady here and I spent more time visiting and eating than we did watching the game. Hubby and I were excited that the Cyclones won, but it was a pretty dull game![]()
Anyone else watch Grey's Anatomy or True Blood? I spent the morning watching the finales to the seasons I didn't really watch. I'll watch season 8 of Grey's on Netflix but it wasn't even necessary for the finale, which is weird. And True Blood. . .Good God. I stopped watching with my heart in it when they made Bill king and apparently he's an evil overlord?
I LOVE the Sookie Stackhouse books but Bill is barely even IN them anymore. I don't understand why Charlaine Harris is letting them destroy her series into meaningless shreds.
Just venting.
I used to be a huge Grey's junkie, but haven't watched it lately. I did tune in for the season finale last year and OMGosh! I will definately tune in to the premiere.
DH and I also love True Blood, but we're behind. We buy them when they come out of DVD, but we need to get season 3. The last one we saw, Bill was proposing to Sookie and was then kidnapped. I have the books too, but am only on book 4. I need to get back into my shows!!
The shows I like are Smash, Glee (although I didn't watch the end of it last season), and anything on food Network. I also saw the premiere of Revolution and that was pretty good. I just don't have a lot of time so I miss a lot of things. I try to catch up on Hulu, but don't have a lot to sit and watch them either.
I don't watch Glee anymore but I do check their videos on Youtube for various songs. We only have one computer, a desktop Jason has modified entirely for gaming, and so we fight over control for it when he's home. We're going to a used local gaming store this week to buy a used PS3 controller to make Netflix work on the TV instead- it's too much money for pay for Xbox Live every month even though the Xbox is 10x easier to use for it.
I discovered Bones about 6 months ago and I'm on season 5 when I get Netflix back. I love that show! I'm behind on Law and Order SVU too- I missed the entire end where Chris Meloni left and season 13.
Tasha--I would just leave it alone as well. After having all of my kiddos, I've learned to stick to what I like and not worry so much about what others think--even family. When we had our first, my mom practically made fun of the name we had chosen. It kinda hurt, but I had to ignore it...and her name fits her!
Holly--sounds like a fun weekend! I love when Dh and I get together with friends and I can just sit and visit (and veg)--it's so fun and so relaxing!
I watch a lot of Netflix. DH works rotating shift, and when he is on nights, I watch Netflix (we don't pick up any stations at our house, nor do we have cable). I like to watch White Collar (I just finished that one), Cake Boss, DC Cupcakes, I just started Flashpoint. We get the dvds as well and I LOVE Castle! I am so excited because the next season comes out on Netflix tomorrow!!! I think DH is just as excited as I am!
I picked up a free toddler bed from a friend on Saturday. We are going to put Shay in a bed so she is used to it when baby comes--and I think she is ready for it...I'm just not excited about the fight it usually is to keep her in it.
We had some family friends over last night for dinner and games, and I laughed so hard that I cried! It was so.much.fun!
Lisa, sounds like you had a great weekend! Hopefully putting Shaylee into a toddler bed won't be too big of a challenge. We just put Cameron in his last Monday. It was a struggle that night, but each night has gotten a bit better and last night he went down without a fight. Hopefully she'll transition pretty easily for you!
Brandon is STILL sleeping with us. I need to get him out but truthfully, I want him there. We have a full size bed pushed next to a twin to make a large bed, lol and Brandon and I take the bigger side since Jason and I keep different hours. I'm a morning person, he's a night owl. It actually will work very well with baby girl- when Brandon was a newborn, I went to bed at 10 and since Jason stays up until 5-6 am, he took night shift with the baby and I got allllll my sleep- and so did he, since I woke up with him and let Jason sleep in. It works very well as long as I'm a SAHM.
And I should know better than to eat while watching Bones. I thought I'd become immune to the gore and blood but I was eating a salad (a large one) and a particularly gruesome episode came on. I don't think I'll be craving salad much more.
