I have officially started my Christmas shopping today! There is a fb page where people sell their used items for cheap, and I found a princess castle pop-up tent for my little girls for $8! I went to look at it before committing to buy it and it is like brand new! I am so happy! I have been racking my poor brain for ideas for the 2 little girls and haven't come up with much...so hooray for a great deal!
Sounds like you scored a great day for your girls! Doesn't it feel good to start Christmas shopping. I'm still hoping to go out for a bit on Black Friday, but I will not be going to Wal-Mart. That place is a madhouse! We've always had good luck with Target, so that's probably where I'll head. The girls are done. I've just got to finish Cameron, my husband, and the two names we drew for each side of the family. I'm hoping to be done shortly after Black Friday. Do any of you ladies go out for it?
Holly--how awesome to be so close to being done! I am just starting, but I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do for at least half of them!
I am excited to be able to go black friday shopping this year. DH works shift work and he goes back to work that night, so I will have time to shop early in the morning.
I've never been to Black Friday shopping. I've gotten some online deals though.
I want to go this year but it's not a good idea. MIL will watch the kids so we can go but the only place offering what we'd be waiting for, the Wii U, is going to be Walmart most likely and that probably isn't safe at 32 weeks pregnant, lol. We don't have big stores here so Walmart is it in this town. Which means that's where EVERYONE goes.
I'd be willing to do GameStop though if they have anything worthwhile. It's smaller and there's two of them.
How awesome about the tent Lisa! I am always scouring craigslist and fb groups for stuff like that. There are so many items that are barely used that you can save so much money on buying it second hand.
We haven't started Christmas shopping yet because we are still just catching up on bills and things. I was grateful to get some cash for my birthday from family (especially because I really don't expect or want them to get me anything). I am stashing as much of it as I can for emergencies and holidays but I got this LO a Carter's blanket, a three pack of swaddle blankets, a nb 2 pack of pans and a sleeper for about $20.00 so I was happy with that. I'd never heard of the Wii U but that looks awesome. It's hard with Wii stuff as it's so universal and popular, it always sells so fast.
I am scared of Black Friday shopping though DH gets the day off so I might go with my brother as DH hates shopping like that and would much rather have a relaxing day with DD. Either way I'll definatly make use of Cyber Monday. I am big on online shopping as much as I can.
I loveeeeee Christmassss!!! Lol im not buying gifts for people this year since my munchkin is coming !!!! So i will only shop for him since he will soon make his entrance! Ive never gone shopping the day after thanksgiving as dh doesnt get paid that week blahh and im putting money away so i can at least pay my bills ahead of time
Mia, we had the money set aside to pre-order the Wii U. We were going when Jason got off work and while he was working, they announced they sold out! It had just been released for preorder less than 72 hours. You can find the basic one at Walmart for +$100 than the MSRP but we aren't wasting money on the basic one. We want the deluxe for the memory space.
I think we're going to flip the car Jason bought for Christmas/bills/baby stuff. We paid $250 for it and there's another employee who is willing to pay $400. It's a stick shift that Jason found out he's too terrified to learn how to drive. If he isn't going to drive it, he needs to sell it. And if the original seller, who also works there, isn't comfortable with him reselling it to another employee, then it's getting listed on Craigslist for $500. It's a damn good deal for a perfectly fine car. We only paid 250 because the guy loves Jason.
I have my glucose test today....I'm actually a bit worried. All I crave are sweets...and I actually had a fainting spell on Saturday. I had them towards the end of my pregnancy with Cameron, actually right at 26 weeks was when they started. I have my fingers and toes crossed that I passed.
On a good note, my ticker moved another baby! Third trimester, here I come!!!
Taylor - I agree that if the car isn't going to get used and you can easily make double (or more) then it's worth why not! I hope you can sell it quickly. $500 goes a long way. I totally understand about the deluxe version of the Wii for the memory space. It's nice that they offer basic models but there's a pretty significant difference between the two.
Holly - Good luck! I was really worried because of all the sweets I crave too but it went fine. My mw didn't seem concerned with the cravings, she just suggested to avoid sweet/sugary things that morning before the test and to just have protein instead. Yay for the 3rd trimester ticker.
I am feeling pretty good about the few things I got DS yesterday when DD and I went shopping. We really don't need much for him now and I am thinking of starting to throw things in our hospital bag just incase. I don't expect to have this LO super early with the H17 shots and my ICP numbers being on the low side, but just incase I ever have a bad NST I want to be more prepared then not. I want to put our infant car seat in around 33ish weeks just so we can get used to having it there. I really cannot believe how close we are to having brand new babies. I'm also really enjoying getting back into crocheting/knitting again. I have just done simple stuff so far but it's really rewarding to me as I love creating things. I keep getting this itch to pick up a new video game but I just hesitate as I don't have the time to sink into really involved games (which are usually what I enjoy). I am not a huge gamer but I get sucked into things easily. IDK what brought it on.
Mia, I love the Wii! We sold ours about a year ago to a friend as a loan- as in, she "bought" our system with the intention of us buying it back. Only now she's put SO much more money into it with games and accessories, I would feel so bad taking it back. She would sell it back, I know she would. But I just can't do it in good conscience.
Has anyone here heard of Swagbucks? I used to do it a long time ago and I got back into it. You use it as a search engine basically and it randomly gives points - SwagBUCKS-. You can also do polls, surverys, special offers, shop&earn, etc to earn them. I usually just do a survey a day when Brandon naps and the daily poll. I have it installed as a toolbar. Anyways, there's lots of prizes but for every 450 points, I can get a $5 Amazon giftcard. I can't tell you how many packs of diapers I have bought off Amazon using this site, seriously.
If anyone wants to try it, let me know. I can refer you and if I do, every time one of us makes points using the search engine, we both get the points! It's an easy way to basically free money. I'm using it for Christmas gifts but if I don't get enough, then I can just buy baby diapers or Brandon's birthday in February.
Holly, I got spells like that with Brandon. My ears would start ringing and my hearing would tunnel and I knew one was coming. My vision would blur and I'd start sweating and couldn't move until it was over. I kept PB crackers and a water bottle on me because it would help the episode.
