I'm curious....how do you know your LOs have acid reflux? I've looked up the signs and symptoms and I'm wondering if Reagan doesn't have a bit of it. She wiggles and fights a bit when we first give her bottles, and even after she burps...nearly 30 minutes later, she'll have formula either drool out the side of her mouth or puke. Most of the time it's just drooling out the side of her mouth, but occassionally it's full on puking. I'm not sure if this is something I should mention to the doctor or not when she goes in a few weeks. Just curious...thanks!
Yes we did Holly. It made a huge difference! We were using the costco brand and our doctor told us to switch to goodstart with the probiotics (to help with his constipation). She told me the goodstart brand has the protien broken down the most out of all formulas, so it's easier on thier tummys as they don't have to break it down themselves. He no longer cries all day long. And he poops about 4-5 times a day.
All babies spit up. Does she seem really uncomfortable when she does it? Hayden has it, but I have not been too keen on putting him on meds because it did not seem to help much. Also, he is a real porker so I don't really want to add rice to his formula... plus he constipates easily, also a problem with rice. I still need to give the goodstart stuff a try.
After i stoped bf Hunter at 4 months i fave him nestley goodstart and magically colic disapeared, coincidence? Timing? Maybe but i know h didn't have a problem with that formula. I will give Heidi tge same around the same time IF SHE EVER TAKES THE BOTTLE !! Good luck Holly and let hs know what the doc thinks.
Holly Carter had it i used to smell his breath and it smelled like acid . He also used to make a face when ever the food came up .. The dr prescribed med for him and told us to thicken his milk wih cereal .. He is drinking hypoallergenic formula on top of that bc of the milk protein intolerance. Its sounds a lot like Reagan may have it ! Speak to ur ped about thickening the milk with some rice cereal
I had wondered if John had reflux around his one month appointment and talked to his pedi about it. He spit up all the time and would get upset easily with feedings. His pedi mentioned that some reflux and spitting up is normal because their bodies don't know how to keep everything down perfectly yet. He soda reflux disease usually has more obvious symptoms of weight loss or not enough diapers, intense discomfort etc. I think for us it was just his getting used to my forceful letdown when nursing and the fact that DD rarely spit up as a baby. He's just a gassy boy overall.
I hope you can find a solution soon.
