This pg is a total surprise for us. I really thought we were finished having babies and had finally accepted that fact. For 8 years we have just let nature take its course and nothing happened (I have medical issues that prevent any hormonal BC to be used) and felt it never would. Surprise surprise when I tested last week not expecting anything and saw a very clear +. I noticed that most people here have been really trying to get pg and I wish you all the best. Is there anyone else who was taken by surprise?
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I don't think I'm pregnant yet (pretty sure I'm not), but when I am, it definitely won't be a surprise. Go spermies, go!
My daughter was sort of a surprise, but we were trying for her. I got pregnant with her the month after a m/c and didn't expect to get pregnant again so soon. So it was a very, very good surprise.
Nope we were actively trying as well....congrats to you though at least you have nine months to get used to it!

We weren't trying either. I have 2 children and conceiving both of them was a challenge! My husband was diagnosed with poor sperm motility when he was tested before we conceived our daughter. My pregnancy with my daughter was hard and so I decided that if God wanted to give us a 3rd baby, then He could but we weren't going to try. Hormonal birth control doesn't agree with my body so I don't use it. I wasn't keeping up with my cycle or anything (if I was, intercourse wouldn't have happened when it did). One day after a jog, I realized where I was in my cycle and told my husband that he could have gotten me pregnant the night before, lol. All he said was "oops!" Yeah...LOL. So here we are. I am very thankful though that this time we didn't have to try so hard. The first two were pretty miserable.
We are sort of in the same boat as Amber. My first took 12 months of active trying. Herbs, charting, opts, tests done on both of us etc. Second was pretty much the same and took 15 months of hard core trying. And this was 100% surprise. We had DTD a few times ( that you 50 shades of grey) and the next day I was thinking "hey I feel kind of ovulately" but I'm still nursing and it was CD 20ish. So I took an OPK and it was positive..... But I really really didn't think it would happen b/c we timed it right for over a year each time with the boys. My baby is only 13 months and still nurses about a billion times a day and all night so we are going to work on night weaning. My add is Jan 11. Going to get a viability scan on Monday.

This is a total surprise for me seeing as I have an 8 month old DS2. I have never planned a pregnancy and really wanted this next one to be my idea. but I guess it's not meant to be. I can't use hormonal BC either, so this is just what happens! At least all these pregnancies are welcomed and my DH is thrilled!
