Anyone getting there flu shot this year?
I was going to the flu shot clinic tonight, then talked to my doc and he said not to take it???? WHAT? it says on every paper and website that pregnant women should get it because they are more at risk of complications.
I take it every year but now I'm just puzzled by my doc answer?....

I'm still getting Hunter vaccinated tonight and I might wait till next week because I'm still sick with a cold....
I got it at a regular midwife appointment. I believe I was 28 weeks at the time. If your doctor knew you were sick, I'd assume that's why he said not to do it (presumably until you're better). When i got mine, they asked if I'd been sick lately because they said if so they'd wait until I was better to give it to me as they didn't want to risk my having an avoidable reaction to it (getting sick) because my immune system was down from both being pregnant and another cold.
ETA: DD got her latest flu shot in the spring so they said she's covered for this year. She doesn't have any more vaccinations until her 3 year well visit.
My doctor recommended it for me. I get one every year anyway. So does my daughter and I make DH (he's such a baby about needles :lol:). I got mine about a month ago or so and my daughter got hers last week. I need to make an appointment for DH to get his plus the whooping cough vaccine.
I just got mine two weeks ago and got one when I was pregnant with Dylan as well.
The mortality rate amongst women with flu is much higher than what it is for normal people. Plus you will pass antibodies on to your baby. I have never heard that either.

Thanks girls!! Well DH got it 2 weeks ago, Hunter got it last night, and I will go next week when this cold goes away! They have another clinic next Wednesday so I'll go then.
The good news is that just having Hunter and your hubby immunized provides some herd immunity. You definitely shouldn't get it while you are sick. I got mine awhile back and there is a chance the antibodies will wane by Jan-Feb. It really doesn't pay to know too much.
