Getting Ready for Baby

It has been kinda slow around here lately...partly due to the holidays, I'm sure. I was just wondering how everyone is doing in getting ready for the babies to come.

Are you ready? Have you done a lot of shopping? What do you have left to do?

I feel pretty close to being ready. I have all her stuff washed and put in her dresser and the co-sleeper assembled. We bought a stroller base for our carseat last week and my nursing bras are being shipped. We still need to assemble the crib in our room, the pack and play in the living room and pack my hospital bag. I want to get everything done, but don't want to be staring at empty baby stuff for weeks on end. I feel like it will only remind me of how much longer I have to go:(

Jen, I am with you! I am working on getting all the clothes and blankets washed and put away in the next few days and I have been debating on when to put the port-a-crib up because I don't want it to sit empty for so long. I think after next week we will be ready. I want to buy some more diapers and wipes and make a carseat blanket, but other than that, I think we are close.

Patricia, you are on top of things!

I have been focusing on getting my Christmas shopping done since Christmas is supposed to come first, but I have been nesting and trying to get things ready for baby at the same time.

We are getting pretty close to being set. When I told DH the other day how many days we have until 37 weeks (and that means an amnio/induction) he was saying how he didn't feel ready but couldn't say why. We have got a ton done this weekend though so I think he feels better now. Co-sleeper is set up, hospital bag is packed save for the last minute things, clothes are washed and put away, DH is salvaging some dressers we were given that we'll use for the kids.

We'd like to get a mirror for the car (that goes on the headrest) as we still have DD's up and we love it. Other then that we just need some more blankets or burp cloths and I'd like to pick up a car seat cover (the kind that just sits over it) for the cold weather. We don't have a changing table set up but we never used one with DD. We have the space we're just not going crazy spending $ atm.

I need to get the baby's room ready. I need to take out Hunter's toys from there, wash the walls and floor (my mom will come help me). Then DH will built the crib and I have to wash the linen and I'll be ready!! PJs are all cleaned, diapers and wipes are bought for a while, I have formula (in case bf doesn't work).
Yesterday I bought myself a nice lazy boy to rock baby and sleep in!!! Thanks for the sales, I pay 500$.. still expensive but at least I'll be comfortable! With my first I had a cheap old rocking chair that gave me nightmares!!! (Hunter was NOT a good sleeper)!
I need to pack a hospital bag soon, buy baby monitor and a changing pad... that's it, so getting there!!
2 months top and baby will be here!! yay!!!

I am tempted to get a Rock n Play because DS was a terrible sleeper and this may have helped him. However each kid is different. I think we might need some paci's too. We also need some newborn nipples. Maybe in 3 weeks I will pack my bag. If something were to unexpectedly happy, I could send someone home with a list. We also need diapers, wipes and some fheormula. Car seats arrived yesterday.

I want to get DS a bouncer anyway, but I would love a Rock n Play too. I've heard so many good things about them that I'm sort of torn between getting DS a bouncer or a Rock n Play for xmas. What car seats did you go with? We are installing ours today. I can't believe you're almost 32 weeks! Getting close!!

We are set for Reagan. We have the crib in our room and I put all the bedding on it today. I also attached the nursery organizer and put a few things in there. I put the carseat base in the van yesterday. We've got a good start on both diapers and formula too. The only thing I want to get before she gets here is a new boppy. Ours has lost some of it's fluff Smile

I still need to post a picture of the carseat cover I made. I will try to do that this week.
And we've never used a changing table either. I usually sit on the couch or on my bed and do it there...or on the floor wherever I am at in the house....

Yeah we never had a changing table set up. Part of me would like to do it just because it's nice to have the organization but I am not worrying too much as it's not a necessity. I can't wait to see your car seat cover!

All we need to put in our hospital bag is last minute things. The base to our car seat is installed. I washed the whole thing but I don't know where the little infant part is. I know we don't "need" it but I want to try and find it.

I got the carseat washed today, and the clothes are all washed...I just need to fold them and figure out where to put them all for now.

I haven't even started packing a hospital bag yet, but maybe I will, since the clothes are all washed now...we'll see how far I get with that. Smile

We got the Graco Snugride 35s... and believe me I spent countless hours thinking about this and I am still not sure if it was the right decision. Hubby will install the bases this week. We have two day shipping and lots of shopping opportunities in town and people to do the shopping for us. I don't want to buy stuff we are not going to use, but it is hard to do. It is also hard to know what we will really need two of and what we just need one of... every baby is different.
