Holy mother of swelling

I woke up this morning so so so swollen. my face was swollen to the point it was hard to open my eyes, my feet were so swollen i had the cotton weave pattern on my feet, my hands were so swollen I couldnt make a fist without fear of my skin cracking!! I havent had a bunch of salt, Im still drinking tons of water. Its gone down a little, but Im still very swollen all over. I checked my weight and its only 2oz more than my last check up. Im kinda worried but I dont want to stress myself. Hub is at work so I cant check my BP today. I also noticed Im beyond tired, and have quite the headache that isnt going away even with meds they prescribed last appointment.

I was going to call the office but since it went down I figured it would just be silly. If I wake up that swollen again tomorrow I will be calling for sure.

Yikes that's really scary. I hope it doesn't come back, but it might be worth calling just to give them a heads up. Have you had any luck finding a new provider yet?

Oh no! That's awful! I agree with Mia, a phone call wouldn't hurt, but definitely call tomorrow if it happens again. My first thought is Pre-E. Hope all is okay! KUP!

I'd go to the doc or hospital right away....
Swelling is ?normal? on feet at night but not everywhere in the morning....
Get it check maybe it's Pre-E.

Called my current OB office (they are still on holiday and didnt call me back until about 5 minutes ago) They told me to watch it, and start taking bed rest precautions, then said to watch for pitting of the skin and try to check my BP tonight before bed (Im going to go to CVS after dinner and use their machine) Woke up this morning and my swelling was pretty normal on my feet and legs, but my hands and arms are still pretty swollen. They are supposed to call me back in the morning. (monday) If my BP is high we may just go in to be safe, especially since it has been creeping up slowly.

As for the new provider I found out that Indiana University has a "natural" based hospital about 30mins from us! They have OBs, midwives and on call doulas! They also offer water birth even for high risk mommas and have a fetal monitoring system that it totally wireless. Im calling first thing in the morning and finding out if they will 1. take my insurance and 2. will accept me this late in the game as high risk Wish me luck!

I'm glad things have been better but that you were able to get in touch with someone at the office. I hope things are okay tomorrow but that they'll want to keep a close eye on things.

I am keeping everything crossed that the University takes your insurance and will take you on as a patient! I don't see why you can't work towards a NCB so long as you and baby are doing well during l&d and you're already in a hospital just incase. With all you've gone through in this pregnancy you deserve such an awesome provider/birth place.

How much protein are you eating? If you're not getting enough protein, that could be one of the problems. 80-100g of protein per day is recommended. Also, when you're pregnant, restricting salt is not safe, although during every other time of pregnancy if swelling were an issue, that would be something you would be concerned about. Salt is important to maintain the increased blood volume and restricting can actually cause problems.

Amber-Im on a pre-e diet. So lots of protein and the good salts and loads of water. Ive had pre-e in both my previous pregnancies so I am very careful with what I eat and drink to try and keep it from getting to the danger zone like I had with my first.

2 of IUs medical group OBs accept my insurance...neither group accepts anyone High Risk after 30 weeks..I JUST missed the cut off! Im looking into Community Hospital now as I heard they too have a more natural birth focus than most places. Here's to hoping!!

Wow I'm sorry about the cut off for the university facilities you were looking at, but hopefully the community hospital will have space. It's great that you're keeping up on your pre-e diet to hopefully keep you from experiencing that again.
