interesting stats: What results can you expect (dpo and bfps)

This is the one for 9dpo, but they have other days as well:

http://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/dpo-chart.php?dpo=9

Essentially, in their collection of data, of PREGNANT women, when they got a BFP.

At 9 dpo, 54% of pregnant women got a negative. (46% got a postive)
At 10 dpo, 37% of pregnant women got a negative
At 11 dpo, 24% of pregnant women got a negative
At 12 dpo, 19% of pregnant women got a negative (81% got a postive)
At 13 dpo, 16% of pregnant women got a negative
At 14 dpo, 14% of pregnant women got a negative
At 15 dpo, 12% of pregnant women got a negative

The difference between 9 dpo and 12 dpo is astounding, showing that testing too early can often result in a false negative.

Of course, this doesn't stop me from POAS and hoping I'm in the 46%.

Fertility Friend has stats based on different tests, too. Not that I would be checking on that... Wink

Of course, I had to find it. The discussion of when to test, as advised from FF is here.

But this caught my eye:

As one could have expected, testing too early greatly increases your chances of a "false" negative. The average DPO at which people start testing (around 10 DPO) is probably related to some very optimistic advice and the strong desire to learn of positive results early. It is true that pregnancy tests can turn positive early (blood tests especially), however, it is rare with HPTs and is not something that should be relied upon within the emotional context of the trying to conceive journey. Further, we suspect that the frequency of early "false" negatives is actually higher than the 17% reported as many negative results go unreported.

I agree there is a tendancy to test starting at 10dpo. (I'm guilty of it). I really admire the woman that can wait until AF is late. Smile

I know 9/10 DPO is incredibly early to get a BFP, but that won't stop me from trying. I don't think I could possibly wait until AF was late.

That's good that you haven't started spotting or anything to suggest AF yet! When is AF due?
