I figured we're five days into July, so we better start a new thread. How was everyone's 4th?
We had a great time! We hung out at my BIL's new house. He just moved in over the weekend with his daughter, and so it was a combination house warming/4th of July celebration. We grilled and hung out. The kids did sparklers when it got a little darker, and then we drove home and the girls and I sat in their room and watched fireworks from their bed. We're not supposed to do them where I live, but the town cop didn't seem to care as long as people weren't being careless. It was fun!
Today I have a doctor's appointment, and I'm hoping the NP will give me something for this cold. I've been coughing nonstop, and yesterday I coughed so hard I threw up in the kitchen sink. It was awful! I had a coughing fit this morning and ended up in tears. Thankfully the kids weren't up yet though. I better go get ready for my appointment. Hope you're all relaxing after the holiday yesterday!
We had a fairly relaxed 4th. We were going to get together with friends and go to a park/beach but they got busy and DH didn't really feel like going to the spot they mentioned as they have vendors and fireworks at night so it gets really crowded. We just lounged around and did some house work while DD took a long nap and then we took her to the park to play. After that we grabbed Chili's to go so we wouldn't have to cook in the heat and got DH packed for his overnight work trip for today/tomorrow. Not the day we expected but still a nice day together.
Holly I hope your appointment goes well and that they have something you can take for your cold. Coughing fits sound awful especially if they're making you vomit. Feel better!
we had a good 4th. we hung out and took our new 3 and a half year old mastiff/dane mix to the dog park and he was awesome played with everyone. and then we ate leftovers and hung out on the couch lol. it was a good day. my rented heart doppler comes in sometime today and when i was walking my dog (who weighs 160 lbs) by myself some lady just stood their staring at us comming up the sidewalk with her pitmix and chi. and when my dog got loose and ran to try and play she started screaming like he was attacking her so her dogs started trying to attack mine. it was a mess and finally after i got his collar and planted my but on the ground and he dragged me about 2 feet she decided to leave. and while leaving she insulted me and my dog and said if i cant control him to just lock him up. seriously? me lock my dog up? who wanted nothing but to sniff and play, if she knew her dog was aggressive she needed to start walking in the other direction as soon as she saw us. not stand and stare until im too close to keep my dog from ripping free and comming at them to play. he wasnt trying to hurt them and i said so before he got loose. ugh, people these days, if you know your dog is aggressive and will attack mine then its your job to turn around and move where they wont provoke my dog.
sorry about the rant. holly i do hope your appointment goes well. and get better soon girl!
sounds like a nice 4th of july for you mia. glad your day was good.
I'm sorry about the experience with your dog! I agree...if she knows her dog is aggressive, she should have removed herseld and her dogs from the situaton. Sorry!!
Mia, sounds like a nice, relaxing 4th of July!! Chili's sounds delicious!
My appointment went well. Peanut has a heartbeat It was loud and clear at 173 bpm! Yippee!
Anyone else having any cravings yet?? I've got my first one...mozzerella sticks. I'm craving them right now!
We fell asleep before fireworks. It was way hot here. It was nice to spend the day with family. I finally started studying for boards.
Good news is that our furniture arrives monday. Will be nice to get out of my mils house- though she has been a peach.
Our ten tear anniversary was yesterday, but I was feeling too sick to want to do anything fun. Oh well- this will pass!
OMG I'm craving watermelon anything. I went to Sonic today with Brandon to get slushes and found out they have watermelon ones. . it was amazing and I should've learned the carhop's name because she's going to start seeing alot of me. I crave pizza too, but I crave that every time I'm pregnant so that one isn't a surprise. I have a chicken bacon ranch stuffed pizza with spinach cooking in my oven right now.
Has anyone else ever had an issue with migraines during pregnancy? I had them towards the end with Brandon, I ended up taking Fiorcet but they never really worked.
I get migraines pretty frequently, but have not had one yet while pregnant. They are awful! I didn't know there was anything we could take for them during pregnancy...I usually just have to shut myself in my room and go to bed. I am hoping I don't get any until after delivery.
Taylor that sounds amazing! I get migraines too. Ibuprofen and lots of caffeine works fir me most of the time. But i am stuck w tylenol. Sigh.
Sorry I haven't been on much. Been sooo sick... I'm not throwing up everyday anymore, though, and I've even been able to back off on the Zofran a bit. I was taking 4-8mg everyday and now I'm able to go a 1-2 days without it! So looks like there's some light at the end of the tunnel!
The 4th was fun. We went up to my Grandma's house in Seatac. She lives on a lake and they put on a big firework show every year. Sophia actually stayed away this year and LOVED all the fireworks. She kept clapping and laughing and talking, it was so adorable. My cousin also brings a WHOLE bunch of (illegal) fireworks that her SO sets off on the dock and it's always fun to watch those ones. It kind of sucked, though, cause apparently they're actually starting to crack down on the illegal fireworks around the lake (it used to be that no one cared cause EVERYONE set them off their docks... It's not exactly dangerous as it's far from the houses and trees) so he had to keep waiting for the police boat to patrol to the other side of the lake. Personally, I think it's crappy. There hasn't been one fire around that lake on the 4th for the 50 years my Grandma has lived there... Makes me kind of sad that we have to actually follow the law now.
Other than that, same old, same old. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday. Going to talk about my options for delivery. I'm hoping I'm a good candidate for a VBAC, we'll see! She mentioned last time it looked like I would be, but we're going to talk about my last labor and delivery more in depth and talk about the risks/benefits of a VBAC vs c-section. I REALLY don't want another c-section if it isn't necessary, so wish me luck with that.
Cindy, sorry that you've been so sick, but that's great that you're starting to be able to take less of your medicine. There is definately a light at the end of the tunnel. We'll be in the second tri soon!! Also, good luck with your appointment Monday. Hope it goes well and you'll get to at least attempt a VBAC. I sometimes wish I could have tried a VBAC, but they absolutely will not do them where I live and the nearest hospital that will is nearly 2 hrs. away. I'd have loved to have a water birth, but I'm stuck with my c/s. The only good thing about them is it's nice to know the end date
