I think I love how people just come together - in years past we did a lot of traveling. My BIL (who is a teacher and great with DS) is coming home on Thursday. We haven't told DS that he is coming and it will be a nice surprise. My parents may be coming for awhile between Christmas and New Years because they have vacation. I think they wanted to be here for when the babies are born - but they really aren't expected for another 3 weeks, 4 days (not that I am counting). Anyhow, it will be nice to have them here regardless.
I agree Tiffany, for me the greatest thing about the holidays is the quality time spent with family and friends (though orchestrating getting everyone together can be such a pain!).
The other thing I love is creating new traditions with DD. We want to have a baking day where we just make all sorts of treats to share with family and friends in the days before Christmas, watch movies and relax together.
My favorite tradition is definately baking. It reminds me of spending time w/my grandparents and baking all sorts of goodies to share with the family at Christmas dinner. The kids and I will be baking Friday (I hope)!! I've got to get all of the ingredients that I need!
My favorite is Christmas Eve dinner with my family. Everyone is always excited to be together and excited for Christmas morning. We have a big dinner and hang out the rest of the night.
I also love to bake and make Christmas candies (although I haven't done much of either this year).
My favorites are baking, especially the decorated sugar ones for Santa, driving around looking at Christmas lights while singing Christmas carols and going to Christmas Eve service at church.
We dont have a "tradition " per se but my dad always cooks a leg of lamb on Christmas.. But now that our LO is here hopefully DH and I will start our own tradition
