Question for those planning to breastfeed

Even with all of my kids I am having to buy everything over again. I got rid of everything because we thought we were done. Zulilly is running a sale today on My Brest Friend nursing pillows and I'm trying to decide between that and a Boppy pillow. I've only used a Boppy before or just regular pillows for nursing support and wanted to get some other opinions. Which have you used before? What are you planning on using this time and why? Thank you so much for all of your help!

I used the boppy and plan on using it again I loved it! is was great support for breastfeeding and I just stuck it around my waist and didn't have to worry about moving it around. I also used it for tummy time and to help support Dylan when he was learning to sit. I think it is great.

:lurk:

I used the My Brest Friend with DS1 and loved it. I had a boppy too but couldn't use it or regular pillows. He started out in the NICU and wasn't able to breast feed at first. Once we started BFing he was very ticky about how I held him and the support/level at the breast so only My Brest Friend worked for us. He wouldn't latch if everything wasn't just right. I'm sure due to a combo of unsure FTM and early baby that didn't have the endurance to get through BFing sessions until he developed some.

DS2 nursed fine with the Boppy or Brest Friend and I used both so I'd say it depends. I liked having the option to use both so I'd recommend it if you have the opportunity.

I do think My Brest Friend provides a more solid surface for support and stays in place better since it straps on. The problem I had with DS1 was he would slide down between my tummy and the boppy or a pillow where the Brest Friend stayed tight to my tummy and didn't leave room for slippage.

I used a Boppy and I plan on using another one.

I'm going to have to buy this baby it's own Boppy, because believe it or not, I think my daughter has emotional ties to her Boppy. She snuggles on it when she's watching a cartoon and uses it as a pillow on the couch at night when she's drinking her milk during bedtime routine. She'll also just hug it...

It's super adorable. Smile Boppy worked really well for me. Smile

With our fertility troubles we got rid of a lot of baby stuff, just couldn't stand to keep it in the house. So, even though this is slightly tangential, I do understand this needing to buy stuff all over again. I am going to try to use my boppy this time, because strangely enough it is one of the few things that I did not get rid of.

We have 2 boppy pillows (I'd take one with me to a BFing group and out and about when DD was little) and I love them. That being said, I have heard really good things about the my breast friend pillow too. Some people don't like to use nursing pillows long, but I enjoyed them (and DD did too).

Lurker...

I used a boppy with DS#1 and I liked it.

I bought a My Brest Friend on sale when ttc, and used it with DS#2and I loved it and highly recommend it especially if you have other LOs at home.
Being able to strap it on and have the extra support made it easy to do things for #1 while holding (and often feeding) #2

I have a Boppy but never really used it for nursing. I would just use a small pillow or the Moby wrap with my second. I did use the Boppy a little bit when they were in the 2-4 month range on the floor.

I DON'T nurse my kids for medical reasons (medication I take consistently isn't safe and my sanity is required so I don't breastfeed from the beginning) but I had one of those Boppy newborn pillows, the ones without the U shape and LOVED it. We used it until he was almost a year.

I kinda wished I'd had a normal Boppy though.

I have used a Boppy with my last 3 and it is wonderful! I've never tried My Best Friend nursing pillows though.

Thanks everyone for all of the responses. It seems to me that Boppy is most popular but also most versatile, so I think I'll be going with one of those. Now, to find a pattern I like....
