So, for the past two weeks, I've been trying to follow the gestational diabetes diet really closely to avoid being put on medication or insulin. I had my dr.'s appointment and they said my blood sugar numbers look great so I get to avoid both of those-yay! And as a bonus, I've lost 4 pounds over the course of the last two weeks, which is great because I'm already up 30 pounds-yikes! Next week is my ultrasound and I'm officially on a weekly dr. appt. schedule from now on. Can't wait to find out how big she is getting!
Sadly, I'm still feeling really exhausted all the time so my dr. ordered a cbc and chem7 I think to check for iron deficiency and thyroid issues. I'm hoping nothing is wrong, but really want to feel better. I don't want to be too exhausted to enjoy holiday activities with my kids. Right now I can't imagine having the energy I need to get all of the shopping, wrapping, making crafts and baking that I want to do plus finish getting all of the baby stuff ready. So, how is everyone else planning on getting through the holidays?
On another note, Friday my husband is going in for a vasectomy-yay! The lady at the office said they normally don't do the procedure if the wife is pregnant, but when I explained to her that this is child #11, she got an okay from the dr. Haha! Then on Monday my 18 year old is getting his wisdom teeth removed. So, I will be in full caretaker/nurse mode for a few days. Hopefully I'll have enough energy left to cook Thanksgiving dinner.
Sounds like you'll be super busy over the next few weeks. I'm glad that so far you're able to avoid the medicine for GD. Sounds like you are doing well with taking care of yourself and your little girl! Hopefully your tests come back alright as well.
I don't have a lot of energy either, and wonder what will happen this holiday season. I'm thankfully done shopping for my kids, so I just have the adults that we draw names for. I'm going to attempt BF, and am hoping to get all my shopping done that day. My kids will be at their Grandma's, so my plan is to rest a lot and take breaks to wrap gifts and put up decorations. We'll see if it happens or not. Please KUP on your test results. Take care!
Congrats on keeping your blood sugar numbers good!
I'm so excited for you guys!! Two more months!! Although you don't want anything to be wrong, if it IS an iron deficiency, then taking supplements will help you out and maybe you'll have SUPER energy! I'm not even close to as far as you are, and last night I drove to Walmart to get some things for Christmas for DH. I sat in the parking lot...and then left. LOL. I was too exhausted to even think about walking around in there.
I had a bit of a gestational diabetes scare. I don't think I have it, but I am also trying to eat a more diabetic friendly diet.
I was amazed at how hard it is to eat diabetic friendly foods, especially when we have some dietary restrictions as pregnant ladies already. You will have to share some recipes that are working for you.
Last night we had a rotisserie chicken and green bean casserole.
Tonight I am thinking leftover rotisserie chicken and mashed cauliflower. Maybe with some sliced tomatoes and mozzarella with some balsamic.
Trying to come up with something good for lunch.
Tiffany funny you say rotisserie chicken I had a dream lastnight I gave birth to a rotisserie chicken....strange pregnancy dreams!
Jen I am glad you are getting your GD under controll that is good news!
As far as the holidays go I just finished all my Christmas shopping, or I guess most of it just a few small things here and there. I told my husband if he wants the house to be decorated then he can do it himself I do not have the energry to do anything else!
Jen, I'm so glad you are able to get your b/s levels where they need to be without having to take meds. It sounds like you will be plenty busy in the next few weeks, too. Hopefully you will regain some energy!
I am having the same problem with energy. I am so tired all the time. There are days that I can just push through it, but today was def not that day. I have my 2 little girls shopping done and I have started shopping for 2 of the others. And the last one, I have no idea what to get her! I've decided that I just need to take her shopping and see what she likes and decide from there. I think I will be able to do some of my other shopping online--thankfully! I just need to make sure the gifts are even for everyone---mostly the 3 older kids....and then decide what to do for DH--the one thing I REALLY want to get him is expensive--like $500 and we are trying not to spend too much on Christmas this year, as, hopefully, we will have a baby soon after.
I think my sister is coming for Christmas, so she will help with crafts and baking. I told her I would supply some of the stuff (for the things I want, and she can bring whatever she wants) and I would watch.
Good luck with all of your testing. KUP!
Congrats on such great GD numbers and everything else! Sounds like you'll have your hands full for a little while there. I have been having a lot of the same energy issues and muscle fatigue to go along with it. The OB I saw Monday suggested more potassium to help, but I think a lot of it is just one of those third trimester things.
