Hello ladies! The last 2 weeks have been eventful at our house... First, we have Alivia. The kids are recovering from being sick...FINALLY! Then I get sick, and Ben gets sick....we get on meds and start to recover. Then on Monday, we clean up all the Christmas stuff and DH takes kids to the arena to go horseback riding and Jenna (8--DD2), got kicked in the stomach by a horse...which resulted in a ruptured spleen and a nice long stay at the hospital. First and foremost, she is doing okay. Her labs have been coming back good--levels are holding steady and she is improving. We are so thankful that she is okay and that it wasn't worse. So we have been spending our days in the ICU with her. My parents came to help with the other kids. DH took more time off work, and we've decided that we pretty much need to switch off at home and at the hospital to spend time with all of the kids at some point during the day. We have great friends and family and neighbors who are all willing to do anything to help, so we are good in that department, but it just wears on you eventually. This is day 3. We will make it and she will be okay. I have been posting updates on FB every day. I will try to update here as well...if you all are interested. If not, that's okay too.
Here is my post for today:
*Jenna, Wednesday, January 2*
Jenna had a bit of a rough day today. She is such a trooper though. Her strength amazes me. She was pretty sore today, and she didn't want meds because they make her sick to her stomach. She was allowed a clear liquid diet today--so apple juice, water, popsicles, jello. She ate a little bit of jello, but mostly drank apple juice! Yay for progress! She had a bit of a fever today, but that is normal for her body to react to the "trauma" (as the nurse put it). We gave her a sponge bath and washed her hair in her bed...I think she felt a whole lot better afterward. We painted her toenails and fingernails hot pink... She tried to sit up a bit to color, but that didn't work out yet--and it was very discouraging to her, so I started reading a book to her instead. We took naps and tried to keep her mind off the pain. We finally got her to accept pain meds tonight. I couldn't leave the hospital until I knew she was doing okay. Tomorrow the dr. is hoping she can move around a bit. We are making progress!
Oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear about all that you and your family are dealing with. I will say a prayer for your daughter's quick recovery and for your strength to make it through this challenging time. I was wondering about you and when you would post pics of Alivia, now I see you been a little busy. I will continue to check for updates on you and your family if you have time to update.
I cant imagine how stressful this has been for you all. Glad your daughter is healing. Hope you can return to a "normal" life soon.
Thank you ladies! Just a quick update this morning (I don't know how to do it in the first post, so just watch this thread for updates).
