Would love your input!

Okay, we're getting ready for our gender reveal party in a few weeks and I'm trying to come up with game and food ideas. I do have one game where I've written down a bunch of old wive's tales and I'll put little onesies on a poster under either "girl" or "boy" depending on the tale. Other than that though, I can't think of any games. I don't want to do the dirty diaper game because, to me, that screams baby shower.

For food, I'm not sure other than the cake. I've looked on pinterest, but most of the things I've found have been extremely extravagant and we're not loaded with money Biggrin Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated!!

Food ideas--not baby-ish, but what about fruit or veggie pizza? Or you could do a fruit pizza bar with sugar cookies or a veggie pizza bar with flat crescent rolls. Or even crackers and dips--I have recipes for cake batter dip, sugar cookie dip, and chocolate chip cookie dough dip (I think) and you just use crackers to dip with--graham crackers, pretzels, vanilla wafers. I will keep on thinking for you. If you do a fruit / veggie pizza bar, you could always ask your guests to bring a topping and you provide the cookies / crescent rolls and the cream cheese spreads.

The cake could be easy.. either blue or pink on the inside (food coloring for a white cake) with chocolate frosting. Or you could do little cheesecake bites - either strawberry or blueberry. Or you could do cupcakes. Just be careful if you use white frosting that it is not see-through. I like that Betty Crocker Home Style Frosting that comes in a box, but it is impossible to find around here.

And, also - If I had been able to keep a secret to have one of these, I would have it be more like a fun get-together and less like a shower. So, the less games the better. Our friends would enjoy beer, cooking out and maybe a little bit of gamesmanship - but not like we sit around the couch and play games. So, I guess it depends on your audience.

The guests are mostly friends. I'm not sure if I want to do games or not. I'm so torn. I thought of doing something easy like pulled pork or tavens....and then I found a super cute cupcake idea that I would do for dessert. I think I'm leaning more towards cupcakes that way everyone can bite at the same time and see as opposed to one cut of the cake and it's done. Here's a pic:

Maybe we'll just get together, eat and hang out, and then right before we eat dessert we'll do the one game I have? I dunno

Go to kraftfoods.com and look up game/tailgating food- it gives you LOTS of super easy and cheap snack foods! I love that site, I use it ten times more than Pinterest (which is getting so hard to sort through lately).

I love the gender reveals where you buy the balloons in pink or blue and tape them in a box (have them with helium in) and then maybe you could let your kids open the box right before dessert?

It's hard to pick games! A cute simple one that was done at a baby shower I attended last weekend was everyone got a clothes pin when they arrived. If you heard someone say the word "baby" you'd call them out on it and get their clothes pin. The person with the most pins won a prize (they did a wax melter with votive candles). I know that's pretty shower-ish though.

I love the balloon idea and the cupcakes/cake with filling. The wives tale thing sounds cute too!

We filled Mason jars with colored clothes pins. If you thought baby was a girl you guessed on the pink.jar.if you thought boy you guessed on the blue one. We also had a poster for ppl to.guess baby's arrival day and weight and a winner from each.category would receive a 25$gift card! (: This was all last year for.Rowan. This yr we are having a.celebration of life/diaper party.
