i'm 5w6d and i'm already taking half a unisom for anti-nausea some afternoons. like today, and saturday i took one. luckily its only half of one. once a day. and not every day. but this is just the beginning of it escalating! i hate morning sickness!
with #1 i was not on anti-nausea meds until 7 weeks when i ended up inthe ER because i couldnt stop puking. 2 bags of fluids and zofran and they sent me home.
with #2 i wised up, and got the unisom trick down before i ever made it to the OB to get zoferan, but i sure was happy when i did get it.
so now i get to wait 3 weeks and live off unisom. good thing it doesnt really knock me out.
That's awful!! I'm so incredibly lucky. Never been sick in any of my pregnancies. Never even nausea. This time though.. I will randomly have a period where I feel a little dizzy.. Kind of reminds me of car sickness but it is brief and goes away without me doing anything!
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues already!
I am SOOOO scared of morning sickness. It's literally the only thing that has me scared during pregnancy. I have a severe extreme fear of nausea/throwing up. I will get panic attacks if I even feel a little bit of nausea.
So far I've had two nights of potential "morning sickness" feeling. I've been on the prometrium (progesterone) for almost 3 weeks now and it makes me feel dizzy, but not nauseous. But last night and Saturday night both times the world was spinning and even when laying down I was so scared I was going to puke. At midnight last night I was so worried I would have to call in sick today. Then I worried it would get worse, how could I work if I was sick feeling?
I already take an iron supplement with lots of B vitamins in the morning, so I'm sure that helps. I'm not sure about Unisom though. I haven't heard back from my midwife clinic yet for a first appointment, but I have my yearly physical scheduled in 2 weeks. I will ask my family doc in the meantime though what she would recommend. I would prefer something natural so maybe I will try the Gravol non-medicinal ones that are ginger based?
I took zofran with my first pregnancy too. I am praying so hard that this one is easier! I have heard it's usually worse the second time though? I hope yours doesn't get too bad!
Actually, i think my first was worse. and i have had friends who have said that theirs went opposite directions, some got less sick with each pregnancy, some got more. my first was a girl, and she was worse, 2nd was a boy, not quite so bad. just pretending that this is all the worse it will get. i never could find ginger stuff with the other 2, i might go hunting for them now. tried the motion sickness bracelets... i don't think they really work.
also, after significant research, women who are prone to motion sickness (i am terrible in cars when i cant see where i'm going or with bad drivers. i've puked all over peoples dashboards before) or migraines (also used to get those, pregnancy and nursing hormones make them go away) usually have worse morning sickness.
Today is day one of Zofran for me. So far, so good. I only lasted two hours at work yesterday since I couldn't stop throwing up. I ecstatic it seems to be working for me. I has HG with my first, and was terrified I was heading for the same fate again.
