Default Break down and buy/use maternity clothes?

When did you all or do you all break out or buy maternity clothes?

Last week I was on the late shift working from home, so I could wear my PJs and comfy clothes all week. The week before I was very bloated but pants were fitting ok (just a little tight).

This week, I'm having obvious pant issues. I have 4 pairs of work pants, all of which are form fitting for an hourglass figure (nice low rise fitted boot cut style). A black pair that is pull on/stretchy with no buttons or zippers. They work ok for now, but I've got obvious bump/bloatedness when wearing them that I didn't have a few weeks ago. I have a navy pair that are a little higher waisted. I'm wearing those today. When I first put them on today I could barely button them in the morning. They have funny hooks and the zipper goes down easily so I'm not sure I could get away with unhooking them at the top for now. Along with my looser top today, I'm having a hard time hiding the fact that I'm obviously chubby in the middle part. I put on a comfy large cardigan though over for at work (since it's freezing here anyway) which should hold me over for now. The other two pairs I will have to test out the next two days, but they are the looser of the pairs....

I'm thinking I might need to break down and get something this weekend. At least pants. I have a few looser tops so I should be able to get by on those for a bit, it's just the pants.

Oh yeah, and this morning I threw up on my train into work. Thank goodness it's a passenger train (not a subway) and I was on the wheelchair/disabled car which has the larger washroom. It was litterally less than 5 minutes from my all of the sudden "Hmm...I feel really sick...." to "Oh ****, I better hit the washroom". Funny part - barely anything came up. Almost like I had no liquids in my stomach. I felt much better after the heaving though, burped a few times, then went back to my seat and finished my tea. I think that's officially my first puking event. Two weeks ago I got sick but I'm convinced that wasn't MS but it was a stomach virus because I had a fever too.

I'm actually looking forward to buying maternity clothes as I'm 3 sizes smaller than my last two pregnancies... But probably not until after 12 weeks as everything fits fine and I still have a pair of "fat pants"

I think it is Thyme maternity that have before and after pants, not quite maternity but looser fitting.

If it makes you more comfortable, I say bust out the maternity wear as soon as you want! I mean, when else in your life (other than future pregnancies) are you going to get to wear the stuff? Might as well get more use out of them..

I'm lucky in that I don't show super early (I waited till 18/19w to tell work with #1), and my job now has me in scrubs, which are more forgiving (hello elastic and/or drawstring waistband!).

But yeah, I say go for it. Why wait?

Thanks girls. I guess all this bloating is making me feel chubby. I haven't gained anything that I can tell, either. Still hovering around the same weight.

Truth is, I'm scared to go into a maternity store! What if they laugh because I'm only (almost) 8 weeks?

I was only 8 weeks with Bailey when I had to go shopping, even with Robbie where I lost 40lbs while pregnant my shape changed and I needed maternity pants.

Now if you want a laugh my SIL went in to buy some new maternity pants when she was 4 months along. The girls all said you don't need new pants, you are about to pop. She burst into to tears and said no, it's triplets. She laughs at it now but she was a size 2, when she gave birth at 34 weeks her stomach was 53" around.

    Wow Margaret, 53" with triplets.

I think I will break down and look this weekend at least. I lost 30 lbs 2 years ago and I was down to a size 8-10 pants (depending on the store). Today I'm in an older pair of "fat" dress pants from before I lost the weight and they are size 13/14 and they are already too tight and digging into my belly. My weight fluctuates a lot though, I was 185 this morning which is 5 lbs more than last week. Darn this progesterone that makes me so bloated and hungry! Some people say that after you stop the progesterone, you tend to loose a little before you gain again. I hope that's true! 4 more weeks of the meds!

My fears are this though - My older sister gained 60lbs with each of her two babies. I'm really scared to go past the 200lbs mark and if I gain like her, I would be around 245lbs and that scares me a lot. I found a pic recently when she was pregnant with her first (she's 15 yrs older than I am), so I was 15 at the time, she was 30, and it was Christmas. She looked ready to pop and the photo was 2 months before she gave birth! My younger sister had serious blood pressure issues for both her pregnancies, resulting in a c-sec at 34 weeks with her second this past December. My "genetics" are mostly like my younger sister though. She and I are both the chubbier ones, both have iron issues, and both have trouble losing weight, whereas my older and the youngest sister are thinner and lose weight easily with little health problems. I really don't want to gain a ton of weight OR have blood pressure issues!! Or spend lots on maternity clothes (it's impossible to find them used around here and I don't buy online).

I was starting to bring out the maternity at 8 weeks and now at 10-11 I'm completely in them. Don't feel bad!! This happend with my DS too. I had to bust out maternity clothes much earlier than you "should" have to wear them! I guess I just show earlier, even though I'm tall and flffy, about amazon woman size. (They say people with my size and shape don't show for a long time....they never met me, whoever "they" are.) Strange.
