Unfortunately I don't think we will be able to co-sleep like I wanted (I wanted the Summer Infant in bed co-sleeper/crib thing) because our elderly bulldog is proving harder to re-train out of the bed than we thought. I feel bad though as he was here first and he's 12 and he won't be around much longer.
We are trying to find a way to have baby in our room in the beginning with the dog there. We don't know how he will be around baby so we need something sturdy enough to put baby in but not be reachable by the dog. He's almost blind though so I'm not too worried. He sleeps in bed with us and is pretty oblivious to the world.
I'm thinking that bassinets or other similar items would be too unstable if the dog decided to jump on it. And a pack n' play with the mesh sides might not be safe enough if the dog pawed at it.
Should we just put the crib in our room and then move it later? I was hoping to have something close to the bed and I know they have mini-cribs now but that might not be worth the cost...
