    Default DH's habit

ok, so my DH has a bad habit. at least its not smoking, but its just as nasty, he uses "smokeless" tobacco. dip. chew. whatever you want to call it. Now, he told me that he's working on quitting, but he's been saying that for 4 years. he says the day this baby is born, he is done.

anybody have experience quitting a habit like this, and any suggestions on what i can do to be supportive and not just a snarky ***** to him about it? because i'm really good at the snarky part.

Ask him what ways you can help him be successful. Perhaps also what ways may not be helpful...

I feel for you. My DH smokes and he's quit a few times in the last 3 years but he always starts up again. Having his parents here didn't help though as they are both heavy smokers (but they all do it outside).

My DH won't consider meds but I hear that Champix is the best out there for nicotine addiction, so it works for smoking and chewing. Would your DH be offended if you suggested that?

i have bought him over the counter nicotine replacements before, he says they are too strong, but hey, HE TRIED THEM. however, last i checked champix is prescription and not cheap, and here in the US we all don't have insurance yet. and heck, even if he DID have insurance, it probably wouldn't cover it anyway..... but i will keep that in mind if we ever get to a good place with insurance!

i think what he needs is to DECIDE to quit, and call one of those quit lines and get a quitting coach i think that would help him. but until he decides to quit... i can only beat him...

Hi. If your partner could not really stop smoking no matter how hard he tries, you can advice him to join counseling groups. Joining groups like these could help him get over his addiction.

There are some awesome apps out there for smart phones to help as well. Like meditation apps and motivational apps. If he has a smart phone that is...
