My name is Rebecca (Becca). I've been a member of pregnancy.org since the pregnancy of my second child in 2007. I have five children: my "step"-son, Jacob, who I adopted March of this year so no "steps" there, it just helps in explaining. Jacob will be ten years old tomorrow, May 3. I have a six, almost seven, year old son, Zach. Zach was born in June 2006. I have a five year old daughter, Zoey Jane, she was born in February of 2008. And a toddler, Alex, who was born in August 2011. My husband and I are both hoping for one last baby girl this time but a healthy baby is all that ultimately matters. All my boys have been born in the hot months and my daughter was born in winter... this baby will be due in winter so maybe that is a sign.

I always go past due.. so I expect that date may be a bit later.
We are waiting to announce to our friends and family.. so no facebook comments : )
I used to frequent several boards here a few years ago (2005-2007) as lauren.groom until I got divorced, remarried, and finally stopped TTC with my new DH. After a long road of secondary infertility we threw in the towel and started focusing on what we had instead of what we didn't. I already had a healthy daughter and counted myself luck to have been a mother once. I even started to look at my friends having babies as crazy for wanting to go through all the sleepless nights and sacrifice of having small children now that my own was a teenager and so independent. My sister made me an aunt three times over and I learned that being an aunt was WAY more fun than being a mom. We were happy and content.
Then, I started to feel exhausted, got extremely sore boobs, and eventually I was CONSTANTLY nauseated. Suspicious, but I had been through the "in my head" symptoms a million times before and just knew that if I even let myself suspect anything was up that AF would show. Then another week passed. I WANTED AF to show and end this charade. I finally broke down and dug out an old HPT that was 3 YEARS expired and n OPK that was 2 YEARS expired. Both popped up + immediately. I freaked out. DH and I immediately went to the pharmacy and got fresh tests - one traditional and one digital. I took the traditional one first and BAM instant BFP as soon as it went across the test line. Took the digital and, of course, it was BFP too.
I'm stunned, scared, and giddy. We bought a smaller house when we stopped TTC and now have 4 dogs. It's crazy. I switched careers and took less pay to be happy since I didn't have more kids to supports. DH and I were looking forward to being DONE parenting in a few years and traveling. I'm happy for DH since this will be his first bio-child, but I'm not 100% excited yet. It doesn't feel real yet. I'll believe it fully when I see it on an u/s, maybe.
It's been a crazy morning.
Saw our healthy bean on 06.06.13 at 8w2d. Baby is measuring exactly as it should and still due Jan 14.2014
Had our anatomy scan this past week and IT'S A BOY!!
Hubs is overjoyed and I'm quickly getting used to the idea of having a son after having only a daughter for so long. Everything looks perfectly and healthy. Baby's weight was estimated at 11oz and he is a constant mover and shaker.
Finally reserving my space! Wanted to wait until we had told all the people we care most about.
This bean (EDD January 16) joins two big sisters (6.5 and 2.5 when he is born), and has two siblings watching over him from heaven.
BFP at 5w.
First appointment at 9w. OB said I am "definitely 9 weeks pregnant" based on the size/feel of my uterus.
Heartbeat check at 14w. Thumping away at about 142!
Anatomy scan at 19w- Definitely a boy! DD1 was thrilled! She had reminded me often that she wanted a baby brother. He looks healthy and measured right on for his gestational age. Couldn't ask for anything more!
Routine hb check at 23w. Everything still looking just fine.
24w- figured out seating arrangements! Fitting three kids into a midsize sedan posed a challenge, but with a lot of advice from friends and internet strangers, we figured it out, and we won't have to purchase a new vehicle to do it. Woot!
27w- Labs mostly normal. Hemoglobin borderline low (11.4). Not surprising- I tend to get anemic during my pregnancies. HB 142.
29w- Regularly spaced painful contractions, lasting just under an hour total, then turning into non-painful contractions, then eventually fading away. Made a call to the doctor's office and was told if I had 6+ in an hour that didn't go away with fluids and rest, to come in. Not ready to have this baby yet!
29w5d- Another appointment. HB still looking good around 135 bpm. Uterus measuring about a week big (30.5). Total weight gain about 12lbs so far, fairly similar to my other pregnancies, but I sure feel bigger this time!
35w5d- Group B negative. 3cm dilated, 50% effaced.
39w1d- Feeling pretty crummy at work (last scheduled shift). B/p 80/40. Not feeling movement for several hours. Left work early, hooked up to monitors in L&D, baby started kicking away. Diagnosis: dehydration and an irritable uterus. 5cm dilated, 50% effaced.
40w5d- BPP normal. Baby looks to have chunky cheeks. Fluid levels normal. Grade two placenta (normal at this point). Reactive NST. I'm now 6cm dilated! Doctor swept my membranes but got no bloody show. This kid is hanging on tightly! Baby is head down but OP (sunny side up), so they will try to turn him during labor to make it go a little more smoothly. Induction not medically necessary but becoming mentally necessary (for my own sanity). Scheduled for 41w2d. Should be fairly quick and with low intervention, since I'm so far progressed already.
40w6d- Baby's birthday! Irregular contractions all day, but this is nothing new. Timeline of events:
-4pm- Slight bloody show. As this has been an early sign of labor in my previous pregnancies, I leave my doctor a message letting her know tonight is likely. Call up my mom (our babysitter) and DH (who is just finishing up at work). Start getting the big kids ready and packing the last few things. Doctor calls back and says I should head to the hospital sooner rather than later, as the roads are getting bad and my labors go quickly, and she doesn't want to miss it.
-7pm- After dropping kids off at their grandparents' and getting dinner, we check in at the hospital. Hook up to monitors. Baby is fine but I am probably dehydrated, as my pulse is pretty high. IV site started, nothing hooked up to it. Encouraged to drink lots of water. I comply. Contractions still mild but becoming more regular.
-8pm- My doctor arrives.
-8:30pm- Still 6cm and -3 station. Doctor breaks my water.
-9pm- Contractions begin to get more uncomfortable. I ask about laboring and/or delivering in the tub. Everyone agreeable to the idea, and my nurse and my doctor have both done several waterbirths previously.
-9:30pm- I get into the tub. Contractions picking up in intensity.
-9:55(?)pm- Feeling the urge to push. Baby starts to move down but then stalls. I change position in the tub and he starts moving down again.
-10:14pm- Baby boy born! Cord around neck once. APGARs 7 and 8. Meconium right after birth. Placenta "looks beautiful" for the GA. 8lbs, 4oz, 20 3/4 inches long. Nurses for nearly two hours after birth.
The next afternoon at 2pm, baby starts having obvious trouble breathing. He sounds coarse, his breaths are rapid and shallow, and he is retracting. One nurse suctions out his nose while another calls his pediatrician to notify. Suctioning helps for a while, but a few hours later he is struggling again. His nurse now hears a heart murmur that she hadn't heard that morning, so she asks the NP from NICU to come assess him. NP discovers more concerns and recommends transfer. At 7pm, our baby boy got admitted to NICU.
Echocardiogram shows pulmonary hypertension, which in turn is causing him other issues with heart function, circulation, and feeding. Several congenital abnormalities lead his doctor to send out two chromosome tests to check for various syndromes. Results will not be immediate.
Day 2- Oxygen placed. Feeding tube put down. I can still attempt to nurse him, but he gets supplements through the tube, and he does not do well with nursing. He has a good latch, and suck/swallow reflex, but lacks the energy to balance that with breathing. Bilirubin elevated (16). Placed under blue light for two days.
Day 6- Repeat echo shows significant improvement.
Days 7-8- Working on weaning from the supplements as his energy increases.
Day 9-Feeding tube out.
Day 10- Discharged home! Weight 8lbs even.
Day 12- Weight at pediatrician 7lbs, 15oz. Will follow-up in one week. Hope to be above birth weight by then.
Day 13- First chromosome test comes back normal- 46XY. Now waiting on results from the microarray, which is much more detailed.

Reserving my space...although I am almost done.
My name is Kimia and I am due January 10, 2014. This is my 5th baby and it was unplanned and a total surprise. I found out I was pregnant back in May but couldn't get to the doctor until the end of July so at that time I found out that I was already 16 weeks 5 days. I am now 35 weeks as of today. Just had my appointment on Wednesday and baby is head down and measuring right on. We are really excited for this baby and can't wait to meet our newest bundle of joy.
