Labor question....

Yes I know this is my third but nothing ever goes "normal" for me...

With ds 1 I was an emergent c sec and no labor at all (never even a Braxton hicks) at 32 weeks
With ds2 I was unaware of any contractions (including Braxton ones) even when they were pointed out! He was a vbac but I only knew I was in labor cause I had just emptied my bladder and 2 minutes (literally) later my water broke. At my apt (the day before) I was high closed and maybe 10% effaced...

So this one...

~Last apt (Monday the 13) 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced
~ Increased feeling of "swallowed a bowling ball" low abdominal heavy tight feeling (guessing bh ?)... Several yesterday through out the day.
~ intestinal issues (but that could be due to diet)... But definitely a cleaning out
~ woke up several time last night with sore back (strained not cramps) and lower abdominal discomfort (gas?

So what do ya think ladies... Near labor?

I think you could be close. Any tightening across your belly? Sometimes with the BH I can only tell because I poke at my belly and it is firm instead of squishy like usual.

This is #3 for me and so far not going the same as the others did! I had rapid progression with the girls, where there wasn't a whole lot of warning before I was in full-blown obvious contractions and imminent birth. Now I've been dilated for weeks (was 3cm at 36w, and 5cm at 39w1d), but have been sitting there since then, not in active labor.

Tight yes... By that's not new... Nothing I could "time"... More like "I spent yesterday doing yard work" type feeling sore. The only reaso I guess I'm questioning it (aside from shear hoping) is my lower back aches (which is pretty normal for me but not recently).

Wouldn't it be nice if we could get a blinking light or something when labor was actually starting? I hate the ambiguity of that early labor stuff. Is this it? Was that a real contraction or another BH? I think maybe it hurt a little more than usual. etc etc

I cannot even tell you how many times I've looked down at my belly and asked the baby to send a message with the date he's planning on arriving..

When is your next appointment? Do you get internal checks each time?

Tuesday... I have an NST, afi and cervical check.... I go twice a week now (gd and history of pre-e) so my last cervical check was this past Monday (1 cm, 50% effaced). First one is always everything, sevond is just an NST.

Smile I'm upping my stalker points. I just had to LOL over the desire for the blinking light signaling REAL labor. Definitely if we could develop this we'd make billions! Biggrin

To the OP question, it does sound like things are progressing for you. I remember a few of my labors were that dull back ache. It didn't seem significant at the time but did work! Hope this is it for you!

Thanks! I always thought that turkey popping thing would be nice... The belly button would be an exelent place... Button pops... You're done!

Things seem to have gone back to "normal", I did have hubby rub some known acupressure points last night (worked with ds2 but he was born on his due date). I figure it can't hurt as it won't do anything if my body isn't ready so worst case is I get a nice back rub! Haha!

With my 3rd pregnancy I had very very mild contractions for several days before he was actually born. I had a couple of appointments during that time and cervical checks that had me at 4cm and 5cm. When real contractions came though there was no mistaking them. I couldn't really concentrate on anything else but the contractions. They got closer and closer together and really intense (my labour was only a little over an hour) I was past 40 weeks though, so I knew labour had to be imminent.
