QOTD: How do you stay active?

Formal workouts? Taking the stairs instead of the elevator? Chasing small children? Putting all extra movement on hold until you feel more up for it?

What's your method for staying active through your pregnancy (and beyond)?

Normally I just do little things. Park a little farther away at the grocery store (I aim for right next to a cart corral anyway). Get up and push DDs on the swings instead of watching from a bench. Take a lap around the block with the kids. Take the stairs instead of elevator when feasible.

But I had the chance to go do a crossfit workout with a friend this week and I took it. Everything was modified/scaled down for me, but holy cow am I sore! I plan to go again next week.. Should be interesting!

I used to try but my low iron over the last year killed me. I can barely make it up a single flight of stairs without wheezing, headaches, heart pounding. I finally got my iron up a bit with a new iron supplement recommended by a hematologist, but my iron stores (ferritin) are still very low. My doctor hopes that the pregnancy helps it though, because she is sure my heavy periods were the cause (I bleed more in one AF than a woman should bleed over all periods in a year). My hemoglobin is finally normal, for the first time in 15+ years so the hope is it stays up while on this special supplement, and no periods means that my ferritin finally has a chance to go back up too. But now that I'm pregnant, I fully expect to continue to be out of breath. Getting sick didn't help either. I just need to take it day by day.

Yay for a normal hgb! Hopefully it continues that way- so many people are the opposite- pregnancy is what makes them anemic.

Day by day for sure!

chasing 2 little ones but I also hit the gym when I can... They have a GREAT kid area (huge room for playing and a bouncy house). Its especially great in the winter so I can get my kiddos out of the house and they can expend some energy.
